Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Thomas Lennon is like unto a god.

Tonight, Jim, Aaron, Topher and I will discuss first versus third-person perspective, LittleBigPlanet's copyright crackdown, Activision's exploitation, and CliffyB's assumption that gamers don't take game worlds seriously enough.

Once again, we are in dire need of:

- Your Der Sïëgëlpüntz

- Your questions

- The kind of pudding only $240 can buy

Feel free to hit the comments and provide us with all three.

Since there'll be a first vs third person discussion...

There was a rumour going around a while back where Miyamoto apparently said he wanted to reinvent Zelda with the next instalment, and he was quoted as saying that he was considering putting the entire game into a first person perspective.

How would you feel about this? I would take it with a grain of salt of course, but games like Mirror's Edge are showing that first person doesn't have to be all about the bulletrape.

Der Sïëgëlpüntz™: If you can BEAR the new vehicular gameplay, you'll go NUTS over Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts!

Also, what games are highly acclaimed and beloved by most that you either don't care for or flat out hate? Ocarina of Time not included, of course.

Also, what are you favourite game soundtracks of the year so far?

Mine would be Crisis Core and Braid. Both absolutely stellar stuff.

If you could rearrange or maybe redefine or even add to the esrb rating how or what would it be?

or

for those who hate shooters, what mistakes do developers constantly make when making a shooter. is there anything they could tweak to turn these mistakes into win?

Do any of you still have faith in adventure games, or have they been consigned to a laborious life of Sherlock Holms games and really, really bad Myst clones? Can you name any adventure games of late that have done the genre justice?

This is dumbest question I could think of:

What is more emo: retro games or indy games?

A train carrying matches, bottles of vodka and gasoline leaves Chicago going sixty miles per hour at the same time a train leaves Baltimore carrying pyromaniacs at eighty miles per hour. Assuming neither train has to stop and maintains a constant speed which class of zombie will you each most likely play the most in Left 4 Dead?

Suggestion for Boner Quest:
make it a game that's very open to multiple playthroughs, and each time through you gain an extra level of prestige (as in COD4 and World at War's online). However, instead of a new rank or number, your e-penis literally grows with each new level.

A couple of Shalitpuns, or if you prefer, Der Sïëgëlpüntz™:

Like a Fenix returning from the ashes, It's time to Dominate your foes in Gears of War two!

Have Faith that Mirror's Edge will be one of the most talked about games this holiday season!

You'd have to have jihad up jiass not to love the music in LittleBigPlanet!

.... too far?

Anyway. Has Jim played Penny Arcade episode two yet? They added a monocle as a player accessory. For that matter, have any of the rest of you, or is this something you're having to put off because of the ensuing shitstorm of quality titles?

This is the stupidest question I could think of:

Hopefully less stupid:

The CoD World at War trailer: If this awful, embarrassing game trailer were a movie trailer, it would most likely be lambasted across the board. What is it about video games that can make people view it as "badass"?

I feel like if it were a movie trailer, that same young, male target audience might find it objectionable, or even laughable.

@uglyphil

There have been several good ones in the last couple of years. Sam and Max springs to mind, and more recently there have been the Strong Bad games on PC and Wiiware. Zack and Wiki, Psychonauts, and the Penny Arcade games all have elements of oldstyle adventure games too. It's not as though the genre completely faded out of existence.

Also, since I forgot in the first post, congratulations to you all on your diamond podcast.

Is Cliffy B (I refuse to call him by his Christian name) serious with his question? Since when do people freak out about gamers not taking their games seriously enough? While it depends on what the gamer is looking for, be it an RPG, FPS, or any other genre, gamers usually take the story seriously IF IT'S GOOD. I don't think he has a right to complain when his game is a best seller. If anyone can complain, it's Dennis Dyack. That poor guy needs to do some reevaluating.

My Der Sïëgëlpüntz:

You cannot resist this lesbian tongue and licko bonanza from Ar Tonelica 2.

And my question is more towards Jim. Given the slightly better than average results of Silent Hill Homecoming despite the fears, would you trust Double Helix to give it another shot?

question for you all that played LBP~ what customized item can you think of or have made in LBP? Any idea on how you would want your level to look like?

Pudding that costs $240 has to be made out of gold or something delicious.

After playing the Mirror's edge demo, I found myself questioning if I would be able to be invested emotionally in the character as much as if it were in third person. I don't know about you guys but I find it hard to care as much about a character if I can hardly see them (of course there are exceptions, Bioshock etc).

From what I've seen so far Mirror's edge may potentially link the emotion of a third person with unique first person play. Most games fail to live up to my expectations but with Mirror's edge I am optimistic. What are your thoughts?

I was wondering if you guys watch speed runs at all, and if so, do you like to just skip around to parts you know about? or do you like to make an event of it and watch it with friends and popcorn?

Hey guys, I've been meaning to share this with you since Aaron started talking about boner quest. Maybe you've already seen it:

http://www.classic-pc-games.com/pc/adult/fuck_quest.html

It's like an adult version of King's Quest, and is pretty short. Just a warning though, the end is VERY explicit.
