Thomas Lennon is like unto a god.

Tonight, Jim, Aaron, Topher and I will discuss first versus third-person perspective, LittleBigPlanet's copyright crackdown, Activision's exploitation, and CliffyB's assumption that gamers don't take game worlds seriously enough.

Once again, we are in dire need of:

- Your Der Sïëgëlpüntz

- Your questions

- The kind of pudding only $240 can buy

A physical one that is.

question: how come game developers and publishers are talking out of their asses so much lately? first i got sick and fucking tired of moleneux (sp?), now Epic is saying they want to charge for an end boss to penalize people who picked up the game used. and lets not forget Activision basically saying "fuck you" to any new ideas.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!?

I am a few weeks late and this isn't even the right podcast for it, but I've got a Kirby question. In Kirby Superstar (and Kirby Superstar Ultra, and possibly other Kirby games I haven't played), when you've got a helper and you eat food and then you touch your helper, you transfer some of the energy to them too. What is going on in this animation? Is Kirby making out with his helper, is he regurgitating half-digested food into their mouths, or something else?

Der Sïëgëlpüntz™: Scrub your Nuts & Bolts, because Banjo and Kazooie are back!

When playing a game such as Fallout 3 that has good/evil choices, why do so many people go with the good choices first and then replay the game as a total badass?

Also, CliffyB's tubgirl faceplate - your thoughts and/or vomit?

Got a few questions:

Recently Fallout 3 glitched on me and I was unable to complete a main story quest so I was just wondering if any of you guys had a similar experience with a game. Have you ever enjoyed a game and had a glitch ruin it for you even though you wanted to play?

A lot of people say Call of Duty 5 are saying it's good because it is the same as Call of Duty 4 but isn't that what we waited a year for a new game?

Now that it is almost here thoughts of new xbox dashboard?

Going forward, how do you see the situation playing out in the courts and legislatures across the country regarding same-sex mearriage, specifically with regards to the Full Faith and Credit Clause of Article IV of the US Constitution and the Defense of Marriage Act of 1996? And how does this affect Mr. Tingle?

A lot of good games have come out in the past couple of weeks preceded with a ton of hype. I was wondering if any of you have been effected by this, be it positive or negative. For me, Fable 2 was something I was really looking forward to but when it came out, I felt completely indifferent. I felt like the hype had something to do with it.

p.s. that would be a good question for the gamer dictionary segment. That feeling you get when a game your anticipating finally comes out and you feel nothing. I could be alone in this sensation of indifference lol

Ok, so, when you say pudding, you mean Jell-O-style, Bill-Cosby-loving, instant pudding, or that British cake-like(?) dessert?

Also, I was listening to an older Retroforce episode (13, I think) and, in the Rev Rant, you brought up the idea that video game titles, for the most part, are shit. Do you think that the Great Deluge of games in that past months (with titles such as Mirror's Edge, Left 4 Dead, Dead Space, LittleBigPlanet, etc.) have gotten better titles, or are they just as terrible as before?

When you play a game with a character creator, how do you identify with the character that you have made? Do you see it as a true in-game representation of yourself? Or is it an alter ego? Or do you not identify with it at all?
Also, do you feel that creating your own character somehow adds another level of immersion to the game and at the same time improves the quality of the experience? Or do you enjoy having the main character be developer designed?

Question: Should there be a statute of limitations on spoilers. The other day a friend and I were having lunch discussing Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess when a voice from behind us says, "do not spoil it yet, I have not finished it". I'm all about being respectful, but should there not be a time when it is okay to talk about the plot points in a game? Is so, what factors should be worked into it? Genre? Units sold?

Question:
Why isn't homosexuality explored more in games? Aside from like Fear Effect and the like, I can't think of too many, or any, games that have had gay characters or used gay people in complex stories (well, i guess gears of war...) It just seems like this is a really missed opportunity. If someone handled the matter maturely, they might be able to hold it up as an example of how forward thinking and deep the medium could be. Thoughts?

Do you think most game should have a feature to were you can change from first to third person views? I know some games already do this such as Fallout 3 but it seems like an after thought and zooms out too far rather than going over the shoulder were it's most useful such as GOW/ResEivl4/and Dead Space.

One main difference between Gears of War and it's sequel, from what i've seen of the game, is the increased use of set-pieces and mild 'water-levels' to bring back an old podtoid idea.

On that note, does the cast prefer games which take a central, highly refined mechanic and explore it to it's fullest potential, or games which provide an array of gameplay styles and provides regular changes of pace/environment?

What, outside of my nostalgia glasses, keeps me from being as enthusiastic about new games as I was of old?

Whenever a game property becomes wildly or even somewhat successful, it's only a matter of time before dollar signs appear in the eyes of some Hollywood studio exec and the long, tedious process of adapting the game to film begins.

In part because those originally involved in the game's creation have little to no control over the adaptation, it frequently, if not always ends up going horribly wrong.

So my question is this: Aaron, who would you want to direct and star in a Bonerquest movie. Keep in mind that as Bonerquest would be leagues ahead of a Hentai game, the Bonerquest movie would have to be that far beyond a typical porno.

Seeing Wii Music sales were pretty unimpressing in Japan, do you think Wii Music will be the last "big" casual game from Nintendo or will they continue with those forever?
Also when do you expect the HD Wii? Will it already get announced at next E3 or will we have to wait until 2010?

Why do you think Dead Space is selling so poorly? Though it topped sales charts its first week, by the second week it wasn't even in the top 10. Is this an indication of the demand for innovation in video games, since Dead Space hasn't done anything new, despite being a very competent product? Could Yahtzee's scathing review have had any effect on sales?

Regarding a comment on a previous Podcast that Anthony made (Sonic ring noise at a gas station), you wondered if anyone had something similar like that, and I do.

I've been working at Target as a part-time cashier/"electronics dude" and whenever a cashier needs change, they request it via the register, which sends a message to a PDA that someone has on them.

The thing is, when someone requests change, it's the coin sound from Super Mario World. I had wondered why it sounded so familiar until I booted up the game and heard the sound when it first boots up.

Also, a question: Why is the ESRB telling Gametrailers to take shit off of their website? No one has been able to explain to me why a RATINGS ORGANIZATION has rights to tell websites what they can and can't show. I'm confused.

Why do you think that the failure rate of the Xbox 360 hasn't really affected it's userbase? Do you think it is just down to the popularity of live, the fact that once a console dies users don't want to abandon their constructed game libraries, or some other factor?

Also how goes Jim's America plans, and how soon will we be able to chastise him for no longer being a real English wanker and just the less classy Anglo-American tosser?
