Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

After some technical hiccups last week, for which I am extremely sorry, we're back on track with this week's Podtoid. We'll be talking about random news and rampant E3 speculation.

We'll also be discussing some of the stuff we would have discussed last week, which probably means we'll also be reading some questions from last week, too: if you have something you really wanted answered that you find to be still relevant this week, feel free to copypasta it. Whether or not the question is a repost, the best will still win $25.

Also, I just now found out about Card Crusher. How is that even possible?

Anyway, hit the jump and ask stuff about stuff.

I actually kind of just want to know what you guys think about Song Summoner. At first, it sounded stupid to me, but the more I thought about it, the neater it sounded. Level up your fighters by listening to the songs? Unless you're the type of person who would just put a song on repeat and leave (or continually skip to the end to up the play count), it'd end up making your favored songs more powerful.

Neat idea, right? But would it make for a good game?

Just one question:

Since my question in the last post sucked, I figured I'd try something else.

If you could had the choice of making any developer take a crack at making a game with a specific genre that they don't (or usually don't) work on, who would you choose and what genre would it be? Explaining why of course would also be a plus.

Mega Man 9. This isn't RetroForceGO, so let's be honest here: This ain't the Second Coming. Sure, it's bold and quite good of them to throw the retro fanboys and fangirls a bone with a proper, authentic new retro game. But beyond the novelty of it, is it really that big of a deal? I'm sure I'm biased because I've always found the series intensely frustrating and unsatisfying, but I don't think my feelings of "meh" are not unwarranted. What do you guys think?

Or, alternatively, "I don't think my feelings of 'meh' are unwarranted." Better.

A while back, someone was talking about how in a game with a good difficulty curve, you shouldn't die once.
Question is:

If there was a game mechanic that scaled up/down the enemies in order to keep the player alive, but constantly wounded/in suspense, would you theoretically enjoy it?

I.E. How the striders in half life 2: ep 2 would allegedly run faster at points in order to destroy the buildings and keep the player on their toes.

^ That question is supposed to be on the topic of games that are hard for the sake of being due to bad game design.

If I remember correctly, E3 was pretty weak last year with how much new "BREAKING NEWS" was given to the games jounalists, considering most people heard the same thing at the Tokyo games show. But I could be wrong.

My question is what are your expectations regarding new info on games that have seen a lot of talk such as BioShock 2, Beyond Good and Evil 2, etc. Do you think there will be a lot of "been there, seen that"?

What do you think of Lively by Google? Is it just another Second Life ripoff or something better? Can online worlds like these be considered games? They represent interactive experiences, albeit ones that are very different from conventional games.
