I'd really, truly like to think that our listeners were disappointed to find that last week was completely Podtoid-free, but I don't believe that to be the case. More likely than not, you folks probably didn't even notice -- but whatever. I'm over it. I'll trick you bastards into loving us, I don't care how long it takes.
Anyway, this week we're going to be doing a (very, very) quick summary of our favorite GDC moments, along with discussing several random-as-hell news stories. But hey, who cares what we're discussing?
What matters is that you, dear friends, all have a chance to win 25 bucks if you ask the best listener question. If this week is as content-light as I fear it'll be, we might be reading an awful lot of your questions, so keep 'em coming. They can be about absolutely anything this week, as we probably won't have much of an overarching theme.
[The above comic is from Married to the Sea.]
Sure, it's nothing special, but I'd like to know.
Also, what would you guys want to see in a Dtoid game? Just curious since there seems to be a bunch in/starting development apparently, what with Wedge, Agent Moo, myself and apparently HawtPawkitHero's gonna get in on the action.
What's the best XBLA release of the last 4 weeks? Rez, Poker Smash, N+ or Triggerheart?
Maybe discuss epic moments in games or something of the like?
Oh and in regards to the image and it's alt text, I see what you did there.
(Fez > super paper mario )
For real. I want to have sex with Terry Gross.
Oh, and I want to have sex with Married to the Sea. Kick Ass.
Here's my question for this week... can you get Jim Sterling to yell at me again?
Also, for you MotS whores: what do you think lives in Drew's beard?
That is one fat ass dog.
Folks who went to GDC last year, were the parties better or worse this year? Did Workman piss on the hotel?
'Yes' or 'HELLZ YEAH!"?
There are loads of things I wanna ask but if I had to pcik one right now....
What aspects of gaming would you like to see improved over the next 10 years or so?
Personally, I'd like to see the standard of writing improve in a lot of narrative-based games.
I was speaking with a friend about Shadow of the Colossus, and commenting on how awesome of a game it was, bugs aside. Well, I happened to get over heard by a group of idiots that only believe that there's one game in existence, CoD4. Strangely enough, one of them decided to rant and rave about how much of a geek I was. So, here's the question: Are people who don't play the completely mainstream games doomed to forever be called geeks even if rattling off half a day of CoD4 is apparently acceptable, or have college students really gotten that stupid?
Also, I hope RFG manages to catch up someday.
What is your one favorite trend, game, or concept featured during GDC that you are most excited/passionate about?
- So, Rev, When are you learning how to code in flash and start making games? I'm considering it, because I think I have good ideas, beyond reskinned Shmup #829.
- Is it really that bad if Nintendo started charging for online play? I mean, its not like it'll be a $15 a month MMO type service, right?
- People talk about XNA and Live becoming this YouTube for games, but, from my understanding, you still have to know how to code. Any idiot can make a youtube video. Do you think game design will ever become so easy a [Work]man could do it?
- Invitation only GDC and DICE: Is that going to make E For All anymore attractive than it should be?
- So Mini-Games are now established as a "thing" in the industry, and small quirky Indie Games (that end up being mini by nature) are really starting to bloom and come into their own. Does anyone else forsee and fear a weird time for gaming on the horizon, with metric tons of pretentious-ness seeping from droves of multiplayer community driven, faux-retro, indie-gone-legit mini games that sell for $29?
- Head Tracking on Boom Blox? What's up with that? I mean, how does it work, and really, does it matter for Jenga With Explosives.
- Should I really bother getting an Xbox Arcade SKU if I'm actually interested in playing a bunch of Xbox Arcade games? Also, fewer red rings on those, yeah?
- Should I go prot or arms with my new dwarf warrior.
- Can we get another podtoid with Neiro and Workman? Not that you guys aren't awesome, but . . . maybe?
- Has everyone considered their retirement plans? Games are gonna be expensive when we're old codgers. Roth IRA anyone?
- How about a cross-over podcast? RFGO vs Podtoid vs Podcastle. For points.
- Did I do it right?
But anyways, I have a few questions:
-What games are you most excited for that you saw at GDC?
-Having just beaten Professor Layton, I am looking for some more DS games to play. So, if you own a DS, what is in your library/what are your favorite DS titles? (Guess that's two questions really..)
-Rev, you seem to be pretty open minded about your games. What is your favorite all time title, on any system.
-Jim, as you are rather opinionated about games (not that it's a bad thing), what is your favorite game of all time?
Well, I guess that is enough for now. Can't wait to listen!
What do you think of the news regarding Persona 3 FES getting a US release?
Also, maybe this isn't really the place to bring it up (regarding a RetroForce topic) but did none of you play the single player story in Phantasy Star Universe? It was supposed to be as close to PS5 as SEGA will probably ever get, and I had to give up on it very early on (it still played like PSO which I hate---nevermind the horrible voice acting).
With the new information that RE:0, one of the low points in the RE series, is coming as a remake to the wii do you think that it is possible that Capcom might possibly have RE2 or RE3 remakes in the pipeline?
And if they do start doing this, would you be pissed if the remade the original RE?
Again.
I typed out a question, and realized the last comment I'm seeing already asked it. So... What's the deal with no Podtoid last week?
I'm not an editor, but I do enjoy the occasional sports game. I used to own one from each sport, back in my Genesis days.
@MissHinasaki
Well, I guess I'm a podcast whore, then. I listen to Podtoid, RFGO, and the Podcastle. Ooh, baby.
and if arcades did become popular again (in one form or another) what do you think that would mean for the industry?
What do you think the future of the PC will be in terms of gaming? As we see Valve constantly release hit after hit, along with letting the PC gaming market flourish with Steam,do you think digital distribution is going to be the future for the platform? What affects do you think games like World of Warcraft and Counter-Strike will have on the future in terms of bringing outsiders to the platform?
