These are the times that try man's ability to release a podcast on time; class has finally started, and while I spend my days and evenings cursing the educational system which allows professors who do not know the definition of "social darwinism" to teach mandatory Racism In Film classes, the nights will be filled with sweet, sweet Podtoidery. And a subsequent lack of sleep and gradual academic decline leading to expulsion leading to my giving hummers on the streets for small change and the feeling of being loved.
This week -- wherein the tens digit of the episode count finally changes after almost six goddamned months -- will tackle issues like Kevin McCullough, console monopolies, and a certain Island full of Bugs that one might wish to Escape from.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
As an owner of the 360 and a (sexy.. oh so sexy) PS3 should I care, or just look down on the poverty stricken masses arguing amongst themselves and chuckle?
- Is Hillary Clinton more evil than George Bush?
- How are you all handling the delay of Smash Bros. Brawl until March 9th? Picking up No More Heroes and playing through it? Going back and finally trying to work your way through Twilight Princess? Letting your Wii collect dust while you play CoD4, Mass Effect and Halo 3?
- Are you guys getting excited for GDC? Are they actually going to let all of you go this year? (Rumortoid says that GDC is cracking down on the #s of people who can attend for a publication) What are you guys most looking forward to hearing or seeing at GDC?
And can you get me Masahiro Sakurai's autograph?

My Question: Is January a sleeper hit month for the Wii, or is it just a month of interesting concepts that are ultimately lackluster and deserving of a deadzone release?
Whats up with everyone wanting a Portal sequel? One of the many other podcast I listen to (EGM I think) was talking about Portal. They asked if they would rather see Portal 2 or Half-Life 3, They all said Portal! Why? Can't anyone see that what makes it good is how uniqe it is, more maps would be great but a sequel? The story will not be able to top itself. I would rather see the two frachizes come together in soem way as is hinted.

In critical revaluation of The French Connection, should the protagonist's actions and attitude toward black people figure anew into the makeup of the character, or should a critical revaluation judge this character on his social perception within the era he exists?
If you were stranded on an island with ONE member/cblogger, who would it be?

And this is my first comment, thought it would be perfect for the show.
And on a slightly unrelated note, how stupid are the kids who send poorly worded death threats to the people who say video games make people violent?
...can i watch?
What do you feel as a whole the web has taken away, and given to gaming?
Looking at the different aspects of game design, what things do you think makes characters memorable and brilliant? This is actually a deeper question of how do you make players feel a game - make them fear, love, hate, lose themselves, freak out, get confused, find themselves again, wonder how they left themselves there in the first place, and then get unecessarily philosophical about the whole thing.
What do you think of games as an educational tool?
Whats your favourite licenced game from a film or book? Tough one, isn't it?
Prime example would be the latest with Kevin attacking Mass Effect on content that doesn't exist, or how the MAVAV and Jack Thompson base a majority of their arguements on personal bias and not real facts.
When will the people that attack video games start to realize that they aren't automatically marketed to kids?
Again, the case with Kevin where he states that Mass Effect is "being marketed to 15 year old teenagers," when the game is clearly rated M.
Would government regulation of video games be more acceptable if it was applied to all other visual media (TV, movies, books, magazines)?
Not saying that I want regulation of all media (though it would be interesting to see how long before the Grammaton Clerics come in existence) but would gamers be in less of an uproar if all visual media was being trageted and not just video games.
*my opinion in descending order of most like*
4th. Sega Dreamcast: Had some great games, but was ultimately doomed.
3rd. Nintendo 64 and/or Gamecube: Very little support from developers but survived on what few great games it had and the other markets the company could tap for resources.
2nd. Sega Saturn: Over priced and badly designed, and because of said flaws suffered horribly and its failure eventually caused the downfall of its manufacturer.
1st. Super Nintendo: Came out a little while after it already establish competitor (360/Genesis), and it's predecessor (PS2/NES) got continued support through the first part of it's life. And despite some tough competition it ultimately came out on top because of great game and familiar names (a.k.a brand loyalty)
I recall someone telling me that the SNES pulled ahead of Genesis when Donkey Kong Country was released. And I must say, LittleBigPlanet it very reminiscent of DKC to me.
BONUS QUESTION: Do you think that Sony will make a PS3 slim in the near or distant future like they did with the PS1 and PS2?
Although it's almost unanimously accepted that Bioshock is a spectacular game, there is a not-so-small contingent of gamers that were underwhelmed with the game's ending(s). What about it was so offensive to some of the gaming community? Was it the ending's sentimentality or the lack of a throw-down, challenging boss fight? Or perhaps something else? If it's the challenge (or lack thereof) of the boss fight, there are a myriad of games that have come out this year from Portal to Assassin's Creed whose final boss battle was anything but epic, yet those games escaped that criticism. As far as the sentimentality of the "good" ending, I, for one, was actually moved and found it wonderfully fitting.
One of the stereotypes I face as a "gamer" is that many feel gamers lack the capacity for deeper thought and/or emotional connections to things and that they'd rather involve themselves with mindless explosions and mowing down of endless, faceless enemies (i.e. Call of Duty 4, and that idiot in the video on your site who freaked about Super Smash Bros.). Is the "Bioshock Backlash" an example of this? Are "they" right about us? Say it ain't so!

Love the show,
