After a week of coating myself in turtle feces and throwing romaine lettuce at the fantastic new D-sized breasts of my friends in Cayman, I have returned to Destructoid headquarters with delicious rum cake (primarily in the form of vomit stains) to ramble on about video games, social lubricants, and the fate of small helpless animals on Podtoid 21 tonight. Your hosts Nex, Summa, Linde, Colette, Ron, and I will be altercating on the following specific topics of interest in no particular order or cohesion:
* The Grand Theft Auto IV Trailer
* New video game movies (that we will surely watch with great pain)
* The aging process of cheese juxtaposed to that of fine beef
* God of War 2's cliffhanger ending
* What's cooking at Dtoid Headquarters
* Nerdcore 6 (and Aria Giovanni's phone number)
* Reader Questions
* Hidden meanings in Bizarre Ride 2 Da Pharcyde
We humbly invite you to weigh in and submit questions for tonight's discussion -- what's on your mind? Can we help you with that subtle bulge in your pants? Get on tonight's topic lineup by posting your question or topic below and we'll pick the best of the best. One of our recent shows had over 3,000 listeners: who knew so many people would be interested in gamers simultaneously making interpretive pterodactyl mating overtures?
Additionally, we would also like to crank call you in the middle of the night if you wish to do so. There is only so much harassing Waffle House you can do before it loses its charm. You may volunteer for this unfortunate circumstance by emailing me your phone number and top 3 preferences of breakfast cereal. The recording will take place around midnight EST and callers will be selected at random by our meatspinning machine. Thanks and enjoy the delicious flavor of man-capris!
Lastly, if you failed to listen to Podtoid 20 you have missed an important life experience. Alcohol tips aside, there is a fake commercial break in the middle that already won an Emmy and a Goatse. Highly recommended while you're pretending to work on Friday.
Oh and is the GTA IV character Russian or Middle-eastern, such is the ongoing debate on the interbutts right now.
Did Rockstar make the right decision by not releasing ANY info on the game (ie screenshots, videos, the fact that it existed) for nearly three years, and then coming out with one of the most incredible looking trailers of the year?
In short, is it smarter for a developer to build hype early or get it going 6 months before the game ships? Which one is beneficial?
Seriously though, I'd like to hear more about what goes on behind the scenes at Destructoid. You know, what's being said when new tips grace your desks, and the sort. I guess we haven't really seen anything lately in the game world that's created any buzz on a mass scale since the Wii's controller was finally unveiled.
I'd also like to know what you guys/gals think the next big news story to hit the net concerning games will be? Yes, I want some predictions. I do love me some predictions.
Gameboi I predict Spiderman3 will kick ass.
Anyways... I sent in my XBOX to MS (it is a 1st generation version) and they said they sent me back a NEW one, but it's the same version!!! I know they don't have anymore of those old ass V.1 360's laying around...Now whenever I try and load Gears or Crackdown, the bastard freeze's on me!! What say you? Am I getting ripped off or dupped? Maybe both?
im getting the fucking scared =(
please elaborate! i have a perfectly functiong launch unit and i dont want to pop this fucker in my 360 on the eve of GHII only to destroy my box
...kind of like Dorock!! Hahaha zing... ok sorry for that one. Meatspin. Hahahahaha
Video game stuff aside, what was your worst job(s)? We've all had them, just curious to hear some of the crew's humble beginnings before Dtoid. Maybe a funny story about them
Shitty job stories are always entertaining.
"A Ubisoft community manager has confirmed that GR: AW 2 developers are aware of a reported issue with their game and are urging gamers to come forward and let them know more about the problem. A large number of owners are reporting that the game freezes and then can cause the dreaded 3 red light syndrome."
do you you think nintendo might own up and make a new better wiimote? unlikely as it my seem.
final question. way are robots so awesome?
I only say this because recently I've been focusing much more on portable gaming because of the fact that I'm never able to have a good sit down in front of the living room tv or my computer room.... And amazingly I'm not missing it much at the moment... the portable games are keeping me busy.
also i posted this other question in the forum,
Do you guys think that Nintendo's future consoles will build upon the Wii controller? or was this just an experiment, and Nintendo will switch back to a more standard type of game console/controller configuration.
kthnxbai
btw, these kids today have it too friggin easy with the cereal prizes these days... I couldn't believe to see them set on top instead of on the bottom of the box! eat cereal for crip sake!
I've heard exactly 1.5 of your podtoids.
You REALLY need to reduce the contributors to two or three, not eighteen or however many cackling boozehounds you people throw into a virtual room. There's just too much white noise horse laughing and obscure in-jokes (even for regular readers of Dtoid).
Cocoa Puffs. Case closed.
What's your best "educated" guess about the release of 360 hardware with the cooler/65nm process chips? I've been close to buying a 360 about 5 times in the last month only to pull back cause I don't want a jet engine in my living room and "red lights."
Birdhouses - whimsical garden decorations or demonic tools of Satan?
Honestly, as long as you're not right next to the 360 you shouldn't be able to hear it over the sound of the TV. I have a launch 360, which are supposedly the loudest ones, and I never notice it except for when it first loads the disc as there's no sound coming from the TV at that time.
Have any of you seen the TMNT movie? What did you think, did it do justice to the rockin' 90's cartoon? Did the experience feel unsatisfying without the bonus of 1000 gamer points along with your ticket stub?
Exactly how long do you think it will take for the LotR online bubble to burst? 12 months, 18? What would it take to un-settle Blizzard's market share? (estimated at about ~50%)
Is it better to match mana at the bottom of the grid and hope for some fluke combos on the way down, or play it safe and match some on the top row?
Puzzle-RPG, is it THE genre of the future?
We should really focus on that one.
What game am I supposed to be playing on my Wii right now? I'm a little behind.
Unless I'm mistaken, it's by Tv on the Radio. Seriously, I'm starting to think that the podtoids should come packaged with a soundtrack for each one. Kudos 2 Ron, since I know it's him.
