Axe Cop. Read it.

Another Podtoid records tonight, and we're as desperate for conversation fodder as ever. Since we can't talk about Axe Cop, that effectively halves my planned discussion contribution this week.

We need listener questions, so ask them below.

Samit getting a 360. Sign of the apocalypse?

Also, ME2 question. What class did you play, and did you ever regret it for any reason?

What are your views on the increase of sex in games lately?
Do you just accept the fanservice or see it as negating from the point of games?
Games are for playing. Porn is for ... porn
I mean this as in games that are including pointless sex scenes (Dragon Age, Assassins Creed 2 etc) but also games like Bayonetta: A PlatinumGames title thats finally reached a pop following but only through the sale of sex.

David Cage constantly talks about Heavy Rain as being more than a game, being a "cinematic experience", and other descriptions not commonly used when referring to video games.

Jim, does this mean that Heavy Rain should be judged on different scales than how you would review a "typical" video game?

Could this possibly turn into the next "Mirror's Edge and Prince of Persia are Innovative so give us a better review score" debacle?

Blaster Master is renowned for having never gotten a proper sequel that used the same elements which made the first magical. As Overdrive finally will give us that, are there any other classic games that you thought would benefit from a sequel but never got one, or rather got shitty sequels and need to be recaptured in their original form?

Bioshock 2, what do you think of Jim's review? This question is for those of you have played it.
For those of you who haven't, what are your thoughts? Are you getting the game soon or maybe later?

Are there any games you like (except Half Life 2), because you seem so fixated on the flaws of (good) games, that you sound like you hate every game you talk about.

Discuss Jim's Indie games don't have to act like indie games editorial.

I think it relates to other mediums' "indie" sects, like "indie" music, which often boils down to pretty-sounding poetic pop that has no soul.

I recently bought Star Fox 64 though my Wii out of nostalgia, I remember the game being a breeze when I was a kid, but I find my self sucking at it terribly. Do you guys think that the difficulty in games has been toned down in games in order to appeal to more people? Or is it just that I suck at games?

Would you like to see a game written by a 5 year old and developed by a bunch of talented adults?

In other words, should Heavy Rain get the Axe Cop treatment?

1. Have you thought about changing the way you review games? For instance, breaking up the score into categories: Graphics, Music, Story, Gameplay, etc. Or removing the score completely?

2. @Topher: Why doesn't Beedog have a lisp, since he always has his tongue hanging out?

Black Books or Spaced
Bioshock or Mass Effect
Bioshock 2 or ME2

Obviously Samit's opinion is void on the last 2.

Has there ever been a video game that you have attempted to carry over into real life? If so, what was it and how successful were your attempts? What aspects of the game did you need to change in its port to reality? If not, what games do you think would carry over well into the real world? For example, have you ever considered what it would be like to see the Fable II pub game Keystone being played in ACTUAL casinos?

For me, it was the 2002 Xbox full-contact futuristic ultimate frisbee game Deathrow (read "death throw") that my friends and I were recently introduced to. While we can't actually stomp on each others' faces in real life, the IRL analogue of this game has proven to be ridiculously entertaining despite the fact that I am terrible at sports.

As someone who owns both a PC and a 360, I completely understand Jim’s previous statements that Left 4 Dead is simply more fun on the PC, as well as last week’s discussion regarding Sims console ports. I also believe that games like Grand Theft Auto and Halo would just feel a bit silly on the PC. That being said, what platform do you think Bioshock “belongs” on?

P.S. What’s Brad Nicholson’s shoe size?

What does no more Live on Xbox games mean for the future of Live on 360? Considering that there was about 7 years of support of the original Xbox on Live, can we expect 360 Live users will get similar mileage, or does this weeks announcement mean we should be concerned?

Hey guys, ``my friend` is 25 and gainfully employed. He manages to purchase about 4.5 new games a month but still cant keep up with the rush of AAA titles. On some occasions he will `not`- torrent the ones he cant buy, for whatever reason. Is he part of the problem? Or is the overwhelming support he gives good enough to pardon his flaws.

What was your favorite superbowl commercial?

what game do you think would make a good TV show?

Not really a question, more of a request if you don't do it in the main part of the show:

It would appear that the Q1 doldrums have gotten a bit of a jolt this year. Already we've seen Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2, Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, No More Heroes 2, Darksiders, and Bayonetta. Between now and the end of March we'll still be getting God of War 3 and Dante's Inferno among others. Do you see this becoming a new standard? Will we be seeing more games coming out earlier in the year, or even during the normally empty summer drought?

For Samit:
I hate sports games, but the Tiger Woods games look pretty cool. Do previous years get outdated quickly or would I be okay going with an older year like 08 or 09 so that I don't have to pay 60 bucks for my first plunge into sports games.

For everyone else that plays Final Fantasy:
I heard Linde and Brad mention a few episodes ago how Square was winning them back with FFXII, and I was wondering what exactly about it you loved? I'm about 50 hours in and I'm seeing the story as the high point, but I'm not a big fan of how the gameplay progresses.

Side-note: When FFXIII releases you guys should have Dale North on.
