Podtoid 131 records tonight, fueled by your questions photo

We're pretty much out of discussion topics for this week's episode of Podtoid (as of now, we've got "underrated games of 2009" and "stuff we're looking forward to in 2010"), so we need your help.

This week's episode of Podtoid will be based primarily around discussing listener questions. You are listeners. We need your questions.

Hit the jump to provide them.

I have noticed with several movies such as watchmen and v for vendetta I thought the movies were good on the subject and thought provoking but upon seeing the base material they were not. Have you guys every experienced this in regards to gaming, like with bioshock as an example?

Which game this year had the biggest missed opportunity? I.e. if hypothetically speaking Batman Arkham Asylum had ended up being nothing more than an above average experience instead of doing the "Batman" name justice and setting the bar for licenced superhero games.

I just finished Dante's Inferno's demo and thought it'll be a decent game, so I wondered what other literary works do you think would work out well in a video game?

What was the best game you failed to beat this year? What was the worst game you actually played through to the end? Bonus points if you didn't play through because it you had to for review purposes.

Why is it that PC games have much longer legs than console games?

You can still find more people playing the most ridiculous, horrible flight sim that came out in 2001, than you can find playing Team Fortress 2 on 360/PS3.

Console gamers seem to be akin to nomads, they wander from game to game as new and better ones come out, with a few exceptions.

I love the fact that no matter what game I purchase, which now totals around 20 on steam, there will be someone out there still willing to enjoy it online.

How Valve is trying to swindle us out of our money by giving us really damn good sales and putting up a new one every day. Mention SteamToid at any point during the podcast and you may get a cookie... Maybe.

Question for Brad !

YO! I heard that Dragon Age game had some new DLCs yo! How do you feel about having so many things to download?

Hey guys, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the usage of celebrities on video games for voice actors (mass effect 2) the guys over at Epic Battle Axe started this discussion but id really like to know what you think.

I think that having one secondary character such as Seth Green playing Joker was cool, but I believe that having a whole cast of known people makes it difficult to get the player into the game. Specially after seeing the voice cast trailer, and now with the big trailer that just came out it is hard for me to see the game characters instead of their real life actors. Specially Trisha Helfer from battle star galactica who is very popular right now in the industry since shes doing a lot of Voice overs, and well.. is really hot so i hear her voice on another characters and it pokes my mind out of the game and see her real self.

Anyway i would like to know what you guys think. thanks.

Inspired by Ben Abraham and that beardy guy at Destructoid (Antonio Buricelli? Something like that) I too decided to do a no-death run of a game to see how it affected my moral choices.

I chose Fallout 3.

I haven't finished the game but I've noticed my main changes in behavior are being a true wasteland scavenger, every food and healing resource goes right in my pack. Also, I'll risk my life for a reward, but any quest with no pay that I know is risky goes right out. Alas, my partners have an actual mortality rate as I refuse to charge into 6 or 7 Plasma Rifle toting Enclave just to save their dumb ass.

I suppose it's made me act more realistically, but I haven't had any real moral dilemmas. After that long-winded bullshit, here's my question: What game besides Farcry 2 would result in a psycho-social experiment via a No-Death run?

What do you guys think is the best Podtoid quote of the decade?

What kind of changes to Destructoid can we expect in 2010?

What was the worse game of the decade? Not just in terms of quality, but a game that everytime you hear its name you cringe? Mine is Too Human

What are your new years resolutions?

What non-video game related thing are you looking foward to the most in 2010?

When are RetroforceGO! and Podcastle comming back?

Dyson introduced my to doctor who a few weeks ago and the first episode I saw was 'blink' while an amazing episode, it was scary as hell and was probably the wrong episode to be introduced to the series, it brought back the same feelings I had after playing MGS4 as my first metal gear solid game, while the initial experience was amazing my expectations for more have been sabotaged by the fact that I was playing/watching the 'best' in the series and had all the benefits of experiencing something that had been endlessly refined to make it that good. Have any of you played a series out of order and felt the same?

Do you think certain developers will kick themselves in the ass for pushing back titles from the original late 2009 release to early 2010? It seems to be that with multiple "Big Name" titles going to early 2010 release, they have just created another cluster fuck and maybe even facing more competition.

Hate to go back to modern warfare 2 again, but I have a question about it, regarding No Russian in relation to the rest of the game. After playing No Russian, I feel like I cared for the nameless soldiers in the game a lot more, even if they were Russians. What I mean is, if an enemy was down but, not dead, then I'd let them live and crawl away. The most prominent case that I can remember is during the gulag escape, where enemy soldiers are hurt and down or running. I could've knifed them, but I didn't actually do it. I'd like to know if any of you had the same sort of thing happen to you while playing the game.

Also if brad is on, I want to know what a good ratio of cardio to lifting is when working out.

If you had the choice, do you prefer having grown up through videogaming at its relative infancy, or would you rather have grown up now in an age of HD consoles and epic graphics?

Personally I pride myself on being there when Wolfenstein 3D made everyone's heads explode and videogames based on children's movies and cartoons were actually solid.

PS SAMIT I'M PLAYING PORTAL AGAIN RIGHT NOW AND YOU SHOULD BE DOING THE SAME

@Anthony, this is an excerpt from a comment I made on your Avatar article.

"...but to go as far as to say that trying to make a film with the qualities you mention is completely redundant is just as [misguided] as to say it is completely redundant for a game to try and be art."

Do you and the team feel this point to be at all true, specifically, do you feel that for an entertainment medium to endeavour to do something another medium already does better is pointless?

Thanks for keeping me entertained on the bus to uni every week, and a happy new year to you all.

Prediction time for next year. Do you think the Playstation 2 system will last through next year or will Sony finally pull the plug following its much more successful showing this holiday season?

Quick Hitz! Last Guardian: Will it happenin 2010? Will Activision fast track a Modern Warfare 3 or leave the franchise alone? How many "Hero" titles in 2010 across all platforms? Army of Two question: if fist bump is left bumper then butt pat on Right analog stick?

Jim, biggest controversy you fearlessly stood up to?

Mr. Sarkar, who'd win in a fight? Eli Manning or Derek Jeter?

Topher, I bought your Beedog sticker in Forza 3, which car should I put it on?

Brad, I know a guy who works at a Gamestop AND a 24-Hour Fitness. Dream job?

Anthony, best indie game of the year you didn't have to pay for.

Aaron, stay bearded and sassy. Also, what the hell do you DO for a living?

Well that's it. I don't expect to really get any of these questions answered, just wanted to contribute a post to the last podtoid of the year. Salud!

Movie based games are always crappy, but movie sequels in game form can be interesting sometimes. Namely "Scarface the world is yours" and "Ghostbusters" did this and were not limited by having to follow a movie script.

Which movie(s) would make the best "game-sequel" ?
Please, do not talk about Citizen Kane, I beg you !!!!!!!!!!!

There are a lot of games that never reach widespread acclaim, yet show great promise. Oftentimes, this may be due to glaring flaws that some find far too distracting to get past. Frequently, people will make these games into their darlings and try to share what they enjoyed about it with others.

Mirror's Edge, Farcry 2, The Saboteur. I've heard most of you talk at length about these games, and very favourably, despite their shortcomings. Are there any games, recent or from the back catalogs, that you would care to make a case for?

Another question:

If the podtoid crew was stranded on an island, and one of you had to be king of the island, and it couldn't be Brad, who would it be? And what would their first royal decree be? Assuming you got to name the island, island king, what would you name it?
