You should've kept playing, saw how truly bad it CAN get (seriously by like four or five hours into the game you realize that every single skill but Dodge, Regen, Berserk, and like three of the magic trees are completely fucking worthless waste of skillpoints), and then given it a terrible score.
Despite that though, I actually did play through it and beat it. I almost didn't because the game crashed on the last boss, and now in the new game+ content it's crashing every three minutes on me, making that shit a total waste, but whatever. I'm desperate for dungeon crawlers that aren't horrible grindy bullshit like the Etrian Oddyssey or Dark Spire games. Despite how poorly balanced and thought out Fighting Fantasy is, at least it never once made me grind rats and bugs for twenty hours to progress past that room with the rape elementals.
(also I haven't read the review I'm just commenting on what was said in podtoid)
