Tonight, the regular cast records Podtoid 129. It will be about...well, ideally, it won't be about the same stuff we recorded in yesterday's impromptu quasi-Podtoid, but I'd be lying if I said there wouldn't be a teensy bit of overlap.
Anyway, we need listener questions. Ask whatever you want, so long as it's games-related. Want to throw out theories on Arkham Asylum 2 or the L4D2 "The Passing" DLC? Wanna bitch about the Spike VGA's? Now is the time.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I don't mean just feeling upset at Aeris dying in Final Fantasy VII or something like that, but rather the times that your stomach has turned due to dread or being horrified.
My example is kind of strange as it was in Saints Row 2, specifically when you're chasing after the rival gang's leader in a car, only to see one of your main gang members being dragged along the concrete by a big SUV. Followed up by finding him so fucked up that you have to shoot him to put him out of his misery. I think it affected me so much because of the contrast it had to the rest of the game that seemed to suggest that it was just a silly Gang Warfare game.
Also, anybody else pissed about the new Prince of Persia not being beautifully cel shaded?
PLAY PORTAL SAMIT!
Now that a crossover has been confirmed, if the ability to choose four of the eight L4D characters to play as in the DLC is available, who would you choose and why? I'd take Ellis, Bill, Zoey, and Coach.
Do you think a compelling story could be told in a strict non-linear fashion or does non-linear story telling complicate everything too much for a story to make much sense? What if a non-linear game pretended to be linear? Meaning a player has complete choice over what he or she does in the game, and the game translates that into a story, as if the player is following a linear path. Meaning a player creates his own linear story.
Or is it just me?
And has anyone of you played their former game Yager for the "original" XBox?
Personally I'd rather such bugs and glitches be made as public as possible. Even if it makes the game unplayable it puts everyone on a level playing field and (hopefully) would encourage the devs to fix it sooner than they may have otherwise planned.
Also, you guys remember Soldat? What ever happened to that game?
Example, Take out True Crime and put in __________
Penis.
For me, it was the 2002 Xbox full-contact futuristic ultimate frisbee game Deathrow (read "death throw") that my friends and I were recently introduced to. While we can't actually stomp on each others' faces in real life, the IRL analogue of this game has proven to be ridiculously entertaining despite the fact that I am terrible at sports.
Many games that prove to be powerful experiences nearly always promise a sequel. However, they all seem to follows a pattern of a bigger and better second installment that takes away from the reservedness of the first, focusing more on explosions and blood and thunder than the gratiying and intriguing story they developed in the first. They then seem to proceed into a third that trys to finish off the story in a coherent manner while retaining some of climactity of the second.
Can you think of a game or developer who decided they weren't having that, and finished a series in a much more well-rounded manner or only applied one game per fresh IP? If so, what do you think was part of making those games good, and what made it so they could stick with the creativity of their property, in place of whoring it out via greed and a desire for cash?
Also, would be VGAs be any less important now, with Megan "Ass First" Fox winning an award of her own, without doing anything to deserve it?
How do you guys feel about video game commercials that don't show gameplay?
(I hate them. Dragon Age is one of the worst culprits of this in recent memory, as even the cut scenes in the game didn't look like the commercial)
Do turn based battle systems have a place in today's gaming scene?
I ask because more and more RPGs seem to be moving away from turn based battle systems and all I really want to see is another Final Fantasy Tactics.
I remember Jim brought up Killzone 2 multiplayer as not being fun to play anymore, and it sounded like he that because Sony has free online play and isn't very involved, this kind of thing happens. I don't participate in online play myself, but I can't imagine 360 games are immune from this sort of thing either. Are they? And if they are, do you think it's because it costs money to use Xbox Live? Would you be willing to pay Sony if it meant that you might be getting a better online experience a couple of months down the road?
I told my friends about the upcoming Dante's Inferno Game, and they thought it was ludicrous. As gamers, we know its gonna be off the fucking hook.
What other literature would you like to see adapted to a game?
VGA's Question: Any possibility that a competing show will ever get started that might try to cater to a different audience; or are we doomed to the unrealistic hope that the show might stop trying to be a giant advertisement with unmotivated and unusual celebrity endorsements?
Miscellaneous Question: If you could mix and mash any popular gaming or licensing elements (RPG, Racing, Shmup, Shooter, various IP's etc.), and were only constrained by current hardware, what would your perfect game consist of?
Isn't this a big step in the right direction?
Also. Last night's episode was hilarious.
Finally. Has Samit played Portal yet?
Personally I think it gives a mixed bag as it prob does increase awareness of what games are excell in todays market but it falls victem to the same flaws as things like the oscars in which nominations arent always given to the best of the medium but more so the most popular and mainstream. Also I dont think throwing in all the rappers and random pop culture bullcrap in there helps any. Do you guys agree with me or am I just thinking way to much into this?
Have you guys had similar experiences or am I just pathetic? I feel I should mention that I'm just a lowly console gamer, and no where near the Elite Beings that PC gamers are.
I try to wait until I have gotten frustrated with the level(10-30 minutes), before I use an outside source. I constantly used gamfaqs to complete The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and by the end of the game I felt fairly stupid for having to use the guide so much. I also felt like I had taken away some of the value of the game.
Am I being too harsh on myself or should I be ashamed?
