Podtoid 122 records tonight, is uncertain photo

I have no idea what we (as in, the case of Podtoid™, Destructoid.com's official news and commentary podcast) will be talking about. No damned idea. Maybe we'll discuss Borderlands. Maybe we'll talk about DLC, or something. Maybe we'll finally record our running commentary for the Resident Evil movie.

The only thing I do know for sure is this: we need listener questions, and we might need them pretty badly. Hit the jump, ask us stuff, and maybe we'll answer it on the air depending on how desperate we get for material.

Rpg's have never been mainstream, they just play to slowly or take too much time for the casuals to really pick it up. But with releases like borderlands and for the sake of arguement brutal legend. Are we seeing the public picking up these genres anytime soon or are we going to see a shift in the definitions of these genres, so that rpg's become fps's with customizable characters.

Obviously what Xzyliac said.

Also, I'd like to hear you guys reflect on Brutal Legend some more. I enjoyed it much more than most people seemed to, and I'd like to hear what you think they could have done better, now that it's been out for a while.

I just pulled this out of my ass, but it's something I saw come up today, and it's about Borderlands so it's topical like sunscreen. Any of you guys in favor of adjusting the trade system in Borderlands? I played for a couple hours with a buddy this weekend, and it seemed like dropping wasn't the best since my character believes dropping is the same thing as throwing.

God I hate myself for that thing I said with the sunscreens.

Talk about how Borderlands could possibly become boring after maxing out a few characters in a few weeks of casual play.

Other than that, the game's amazing.

I would humbly suggest that reading Samit's tweets becomes a regular feature of the podcast, especially in the absence of Samit. Yes/no?
Also, what did Samit think of the Playoffs?

If you could combine the mechanics and style of 2 or 3 completely different games to form a Voltron-like megagame greater than the sum of its parts, what games would you mash together?

Can you think of any videogame antagonists that were actually competent in attempting to reach their goal?
Can you think of anyone that didn't leave giant loop-holes in their plans, send poorly-trained minions after you over and over, or prepare to do battle with you when you are at your strongest only to attack you in a set pattern with a glaringly obvious weak-point?

Maybe something about your opinions on why Steam releases are staggered across the world, or just some venting on that bullshit. I know a lot of people are pissed off that Borderlands was showing the US release for everyone and switched for their respective territory right before ti came out.

Something about how cel-shading is the most timeless 3D graphical technique. Can you think of any other styles that remain so good looking for so long, or that have such peaks and relatively few lows?

Borderlands' odd juxtaposition of humor and hardcore violence with a general sad rundown feeling? I'm surprised no one had commented on that yet. The way the game starts you almost feel like it's going to be a sort of cheery violence, but it quickly becomes much more sad and violent.

Are gamers justifiably angry that the L4D2 demo has been delayed given that it was part of the pre-order description, or should it be seen as ancillary and they should just accept waiting till the 28th to play it.

We all know that Metroid Prime is obviously not the Citizen Kane of video games, but do you think that Micheal Thompson had the right idea of looking at games that were already made, and trying to see which ones came close? If you had to pick, what games do you think could be called the-almost-but-not-quite-Citizen-Kane of video games?

Aaron and Topher please rediscuss about earthbound feeling like storybook and uncharted like a movie. I am convinced that this is due to the graphical limitations and being forced to use our imagination about the game to a certain extent while uncharted is more passive in this sense.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on the game based on Lars Von Trier's Antichrist. Do you guys think it will live up to the hype and be as artistic, intense and disturbing as the movie was? I'm really curious to hear Anthony's thoughts on this since the movie was absolutely not fun to watch but at the same time it was very engaging and thought provoking. I can't imagine a game based on the movie will be easy to sit through but will it still be engaging?

Hypothetical scenario: Suppose Modern Warfare 2's citizen killing level is very meta, and is supposed to demonstrate the true horror of warfare to the player, by putting them in the shoes of the true evil it breeds, sort of like Edmund. Would it still be crossing a taboo line even though it's using this horrible situation for valid narrative goal, like Six Day's in Fallujah, or is this a boundary we have to push if we want to truly increase the scope of material game's can cover?

Has the popularity music games peaked? Will there be a music game recession a la what happened with DDR? Or will DefJam Rapstar revitalize the industry? While I'm exited for DJ Hero, I'm kinda getting sick of new music games. The Beatles was cool, but do we really need Guitar Hero 5, Van Halen, Band Hero, LEGO Rock Band and DJ Hero coming out in the span of two months? I love music games (not just Rock Band, but also quirky stuff like Ouendan and Gitarro Man) but I'm afraid of another DDR-esque music game crash. What will it take to get people to stop buying Activision games? I say we start a rape scandal and a subsequent boycott.

What video games should be made into movies, consider this:

Would it be the same story? If it is the same story, it would probably be an adaptation. Some games would have their stories crumble if strayed from the original.

Would it be a spin off? For example get one of the secondary characters and instead of remaking the original story expand on the universe.

Prequel or Sequel?

and finally.. who would directed it and or who would the cast be. and don't stop on real directors and actors... Id love to see a grim fandango movie or maybe suck George Lucas' brain out and change it form a mix of Bioware's story team... then again George Lucas isn't a good director.. hmmm well just get the Bioware team to make a KOTOR movie...

Talk about how Borderlands is like going to kids birthday party, everybody gets to hit the colorful piñata and prizes come out of it.

Whats your favorite gun you've found so far?

Why can't we pick up the millions of pieces of loot by walking over them? Not the guns and mods, just ammo and money.

Also you can #makefun of #Samit because the #Yankees are going to #lose the #World Series and #NewYork will #implode #2012 style. #Hashtag #ha #ha.

Sorry I'm a scorned Red Sox fan, and last week's Potoid was funny listening to you guys reading Samit's tweets, and how dorky you all sounded about sports. It was like when my Grandma calls all video games "Gameboy". It's ok though, you have other talents than sports and that's ok good sirs.
