Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Podtoid 119 is tonight, not necessarily about zombies photo

Yeah, Resident Evil-toid is overdue, but I don't really like springing these movie commentary episodes on you without giving you at least a week's notice on the podcast itself. We'll hang out with Milla Jovovich next week. This week, it's news.

I have no idea what that news will be, of course.

I do know, however, that we will need listener questions from you lot -- just hit the jump and start asking stuff for the chance to win a Dtoid swag bag.

Given that, for the most part, the PSP Go is considered a failure at whatever it was trying to do, do you think this will greatly affect console based digital distribution in the near future or will companies laugh off Sony's misguided attempt? Following that, when do you guys think we'll finally see a system that offers games solely for download?

That Jill Sandwich reminds me: What, in your opinion, is the worst piece of dialogue to ever be in a video game?

I don't mean to be Mr Complainatoid, I was glad just to have my question read out but I won a few weeks back and didn't get my swag :< I have cried every day since.

P.S my question this week is: Is it too early to call the PSPgo a pile of useless expensive shit? It's been out less than a week but everyone I talk to doesn't have a good thing to say about it.

Podtoid: If you could only choose one game from the list of your usual fallbacks of "This is what makes gaming awesome" (MGS series, Half Life 2, etc.) which would it be and why?

I was playing Lost: Via Domus the other week because I have an unhealthy obsession with TV tie-in games. While it's not the worst I've ever played, I felt that with a bit more time, they could have added so much to it. Blade Runner proved back in the day that you could create a great tie-in given the time and effort involved. 24: The Game was halfway there, except for the bad controls...and The X Files FMV Game is a guilty pleasure for some (i.e. Me!)...

So, what are your worst tv or movie tie-in games and why?

My fave = Blade Runner
My worst = Mission: Impossible (the N64 version)

Anthony, you mentioned awhile ago about making a zombie game and asked on Podtoid if any listeners were familiar with programming with the source engine. Did you get any responses back? Are you currently working on the zombie game to end all zombie games?

but you told us it would be at the end of last episode. I've really enjoyed them so far, stop toying with my fragile emotions! :(

However, as it's not: Now that the PSPGo seems to be having decidedly mediocre sales, how do you think sony will react if they don't improve? Or do you predict it'll follow the PS3's lead, and turn into a really good system a few years down the line?

I have another question, Jill Sandwich reminded me:

Resident Evil was one of the first game I played on a console with real actors in it...I think, but it was awful the dialogue was just plain bad throughout the game, however the game was loved by millions and critically acclaimed. Could a game come out today with such shoddy scripting and awful dialogue and still recieve such acclaim?

What is your opinnion regarding the idea that digital downloads for the psp go are to be acquired after paying the full price of a regular game?
Isn't the old pricing a sum of development as well as packaging that should go down whenever one of the factors becomes negligible?

Also, what are the effeminate shoe sizes does the rest of the Podtoid crew wear because they can't measure up to Brad Nicholson?

In light of Japan's waning games market, it seems a lot of Japanese developers are trying their best at delivering games that appeal to a western audience.

On a related note, all I hear about the JRPG genre lately is how it "needs to change." I can agree with this on a few levels (I tire of the artificially "heavy" and bloated storylines and the characters that take themselves way too seriously). However, I never really hear concrete ideas on how the genre needs to change or "westernize."

First, what does it mean for a game to appeal to a western audience? Second, what are your ideas on saving the JRPG genre from stagnation, and does it have anything to do with "westernization"? Third, answer Brad Nicholson's question.

I recently picked up Jedi Knight on steam and there's a realy strong community that all seem to stick to a honours system. They only attacking each other when both have sabers out and they mess around with potentialy gamebreaking mods that would give them massive advantages in comabt but NEVER actualy using the mods in combat because they all have actual manners. I have obviously never come across hospitality or manners online, not to mention a whole bloody honours system. I was wondering if youve ever seen a game with such a cult following or bizzarely delicate online community.

Also, what is your most memorable moment in a game which cemented if you liked/hated it?

Horror games usually draw comparisons to horror movies. Could a horror movie director could ever make successful a "crossover" to make a video game? Could a horror movie director be capable of making a good game? Or are the two media too distinct?

And/or just stories about calling people cunts.

Do you guys mind when games have bugs or glitches? I ask because it seems to me that a few years ago, glitches were perceived as interesting little quirks, but today they've become the kind of thing that can destroy a gaming experience. Where did that shift happen? Why is it no longer fun or funny to find a specific corner of a level where your character can slip through the floor and fall into an abyss? Or am I the only one who thought those kinds of moments were cool to begin with?

Two questions:

1. When can you call a console or handheld a failure?

2. I was playing a round of Plunder in the Uncharted 2 demo. It was a very unbalanced match. On one side there were green and low level blue players and on the other several Roman numeral leveled players. When the higher leveled team got to 4 they stopped playing plunder and turned the game into death match. If a person were to quit during a situation like that would it be considered a rage quit?

Do you believe gaming as it is now, is afflicted by obsolescence? Or is it maybe a good thing? Or does the hoarding of "older" hardware and software have such a substantial impact that the term is not applicable?

Jim, if you could be the exclusive voice actor for a video game character, but could never do any other voice work, would you, and what character would it be?

(One can assume that there would be infinite sequels because the King of Video Games would be in them, making all other games obsolete, and feel free to make up one if you'd prefer a new IP.)

Which makes you jump/scares you more: Sudden scares in horror movies, or enemies popping out unexpectedly in videogames?

I rarely jump at movies because they let you know when something is about to jump out. Games make me jump much more. Like the first houdini splicer appearing behind you in Bioshock.

However, I find movies more suspenseful because I'm not in control. I'm more comfortable walking down a dark hallway in a game, because most times I'm holding a shotgun ready to blast anything that tries to eat me.

There's a lot of buzz around the new Saw game!

Sorry to repost an old question, but to go along with all the "Demon's Souls is too hard" stuff, what's your preferred difficulty curve? As your character continues to advance and gain abilities, should a game reward you by making you feel badass for your time spent or does it need to tailor the rest of the game to have a more consistent experience from start to finish?

Samit, can you discuss the bounce pass mechanics in the latest NBA game

Ok.. i´m gonna overload you guys with questions, some useful (not) and some useless (hell´yah!)!!
1. What do you guys think about the news on Project Natal, displayed @ TGS this year?
2. Why Anthony? Why you don´t like Machinarium? Why?!
3. What do you think about the guy that´s suing Sony because of Firmware 3.1? And what advices can you give to me, because i´m considering to buy a ps3 and i´m quite afraid if something like that happens with me.
4. A question to Aaron Linde: You were in the industry, right? As a IT student, what can you advice me to search, like courses, for me to get in this market? And is it worth to work in?

Sorry for my bad english, i´m really tired and.. well, i´m not so good with it! Looking for the show!! ;D

bu-bye!
