This week on Podtoid: butts, butts, butts!
Perhaps not. But Podtoid 118 is a thing that is still happening without fearless leader and agenda-setter-person, Anthony Burch. On tonight’s episode, I will be accompanied by producer Adam Dork and the normal Podtoid crew -- Sports Sarkar, Aaron Linde, Topher Cantler and Jim Sterling. We don't know who is hosting this thing yet, but hey, that's part of the fun.
We’ll talk about things about things that are relevant to other things. As such, we’ll need you. Feel free to ask questions of us in the comments or even suggest something interesting you want us to talk about in there as well. The power is yours.
Remember: while the news has been slow the last few days, TGS '09 was off the hook. There's a ton of stuff we could talk about, so suggest, suggest, and suggest some more!

[Update: Mr. Linde is hosting; confirmed.]
It looks like a very interesting concept to me, but I can't quite wrap my head around it without having played it.
I'd like to hear your opinions about it.
It would have made it twice as awesome.
Have you had similar experiences with these "breaks" in otherwise action oriented experiences?
I remember when Alien Hominid first launched, it got terrible sales. I don't think that would happen if it came out today.
Podtoid 112 - Aaron Linde learns about Roman Polanski's crime
Podtoid 115 - Aaron Linde is absent (after previously breaking his foot and missing PAX in mysterious circumstances)
Podtoid 118 - Roman Polanski arrested in Switzerland, having been found tied up with a 'Please Deliver to: Lieutenant Gordon' sticker on his chest.
So the question to Aaron is: Are you 'The Batman'?
Specifically how branding will simultaneously hurt and help the game. As we can already tell plenty of people are writing it off and pissing on Acti because it has the Hero name despite the fact that it is developed by not-Neversoft devs. At the same time it's a really smart move because sales are gonna fly, it'll attract new fans to the Hero games, and give a much needed boast to music game interest.
Also what about all the negative vibes surrounding the PSPgo as of late? It's an evil Nazi machine am I right?
Would it seem outta place for a full-on action game to attempt some reasonably emotional story elements? I'm asking because Square Enix's Nier has the tired "man rescues child" cliché which could lead to some Gears of War 2 style awkwardness/hilariousness. I've never seen such a game successfully implement it and I'm worried Squeenix might feel the need to arbitrarily shoehorn it in and fail, which may result in a black mark on an otherwise great game.
Also, I've just recently discovered the fucking greatness of Blitz 2, and I feel it should be talked about a lot more on the show.
Also, Subject Zero, Would you hit that?
What wins in a fight a fight between a hurricane named Brad or a dragon named Chet?
From a code standpoint, I think the always entertaining Mr. Sterling is completely correct, they won't re-develop these games to be download only, however, since these games will be modified to work from a downloaded copy, there is no reason that discs would work in the drive. There would be minimal code needed to boot PS2 discs into the emulator, but I can easily see Sony skipping this for the money, as was alleged.
So, how angry will you be if (or possibly when) Sony provides downloadable PS2 games, but does not allow the discs to be played, out of their obvious sheer spite for their previous customers (see: PSPGo)?
Will it be worth it if the downloadable versions of games are edited to include dragons, or more dragons (if they already had dragons)?
Sports ball sports bat sport club, racket sports sports swing sports toss sport ball. Run throw sports sports sports, dribble sports puck?
Thanks, I really appreciate you answering that for me

in an age when DLC has become a norm, releasing a separate disc seems like an arcaic practice. Capcom has stated that the release won't be full price but I'm curious how much will you pay for it and what are your thoughts on it?
What is it that attracts you to "indie games" so damn much? Seriously, I just don't get the appeal.
What are your feelings on the current state of music games?
Many of the games at this years TGS seemed to be aimed more towards the western market. As a result I almost none of the quirky japanese titles that have always excited me. What do you think of this recent trend in the japanese gaming industry.
I think a Prince of Persia trilogy on one disc would be fantastic, or even something like the Maximo games. I wouldn't download a game I already own, but I might consider buying an slightly upgraded version for my collection.
Oh my god.
I can't believe I missed that page of the comic. Good god, wow. Came.
Anthony Burch voice impressions!
For Jim: I finished Darkest of Days, and although it has some significant problems in terms of design (including the worst cliffhanger ending I've ever seen in a game), the decently accurate replication of historical battles and the anachronistic weapons should have given the game a score higher than 1 (maybe a 3?). And c'mon, you must have enjoyed using the flamethrower on the citizens of Pompeii; it's ok to do it because they were going to die in the eruption anyway.
Also, can I possibly get you guys to mention the implementation of leaderboards for the graphic design element in Forza 3? That idea is Goddamned brilliant, and they're actually doing it.
So are all of you going to get ordained everyone in the Podtoid forums?
With the rise of Gamescom is the Tokyo Game Show becoming more and more irrelevant? Would it be better suited at another time in the year?
How much iron would a woodchet pump when a woodchet does pump iron? In other words: how much do you bench?
Also, can you bench a dragon?
