First we told you about Circuit City filing for bankruptcy, with the closing 155 stores following that. Later we used that to our advantage, snapping up discounted games from those closing stores. Now it seems that the inevitable has happened, and all stores are now to be liquidated.
MSN Money says that everything goes after the company failed to attract a buyer. Three companies were looking to snap up the failing retailer, but the poor holiday performance must have scared them off.
Now Circuit City is closing all of its 567 stores and laying off over 30,000 workers. The shareholders? Fu*ked. They follow in the steps of several other American retailers to close their doors in 2008, but the first that is tied to the gaming industry. MSN Money points out that Best Buy, Amazon, Wal-Mart and others stand to benefit from their closure.
This probably isn't the best time to point this out, but you're sure to find a good deal on games, televisions, and other related goodies at your local liquidating Circuit City. Tell us if you see anything good.
Here's what Bloomberg News says: Going-out-of-business sales at Circuit City's remaining U.S. stores will start tomorrow and end by March 31. Go, go!

How come at least over in San Diego they always build CC near a Best Buy? its a weird thing...but oh well...
just in time I'm getting my income tax check monday
Oh, wait...
It's the size...
The bigger they are, the harder they fall, isn't that how the saying goes?
love it.
A shame that the store had to go down, and while high prices compared to the best buy they were typically close to was a big factor. I do have to say that now and again, I could actually find a pretty decent deal at the store.
(But mostly, I hate Indiana.)
In my experience, CC has had just as good, if not better selection than BB. For example, I picked up Phantom Brave the day it was released from BB for only $16 (used copies now go for about $30). I've never come across a deal like that in CC...
The wife and I went there looking to score a deal on GH: World Tour, but it was only 10% off (as was most of the stuff there), the only better deals they had was 30% off TV furniture, entertainment centers and the like. A sales associate told us they might be dropping prices more on Wednesday, but with Dale reporting that going-out-of-business sales would be going on until the end of March, I doubt that they'd be doing price drops THAT soon. Also, the associate admitted he had been hired just before the liquidation had been announced, so I don't know how "in the loop" he is.
