Yes, we know -- SoutPeak Game's Two Worlds for the Xbox 360 and PC was pretty much a disaster. Marred by everything from frame rate issues to poor in-game menu design, the open-world title didn't quite live up to the promise of, well, a good game.
Regardless, SouthPeak have announced a sequel for the game called Two Worlds: The Temptation which will be available for the Xbox 360 and PC this fall. The game will take place shortly after the events of the first title, and will feature more intricate missions, improved voice-overs and animations, an overhauled horseback riding mechanic, completely new combat, and a new game engine. So pretty much, it sounds like they're starting from scratch, doesn't it? The game is once again being designed by Polish dev studio Reality Pump, and the game's Chief Designer says they're putting everything in to making "a game that's far and away better than the original." "We've taken to heart all of the comments made by gamers about Two Worlds and we're going to give them what they want with the sequel," he says. A good game would be nice. And oh yeah, some of you might recall that The Temptation was originally planned as an "expansion" to the original. I wonder what made them change their mind ...
“TWO WORLDS: THE TEMPTATION” COMING TO XBOX 360™ and WINDOWS PC
Sequel to SouthPeak Games’ Role-Playing Hit “Two Worlds” Arrives In Stores This Fall
GRAPEVINE, TX – MARCH 20, 2008 - SouthPeak Games today announced that it will be releasing a sequel to its popular open world role-playing game, Two Worlds. Entitled “Two Worlds: The Temptation”, the game is slated to be available on Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system and Windows PC this fall.
Taking place shortly after the events portrayed in the first Two Worlds, The Temptation takes place in Eastern Antaloor, in the regions surrounding Oswaroh and the Drak’ar Desert. Featuring as much content as the original, Two Worlds: The Temptation will feature more intricate missions, improved voice-overs and animations, retooled horseback riding, completely revamped combat, and a new game engine that delivers visuals that have to be seen to be believed.
“Our entire development team is now putting their all into making Two Worlds: The Temptation a game that is far and away better than the original,” said Miroslaw Dymek, Chief Developer with Reality Pump explained. “We’ve taken to heart all the comments made by gamers about Two Worlds and we’re going to give them what they want with the sequel.”
“I’m sure fans of RPGs will be pleased with the vast amounts of new content and massive improvements to the core gameplay in Two Worlds: The Temptation,” said Melanie Mroz, CEO of SouthPeak Games. “It’s an ambitious, yet refined title that will surprise a lot of people.”

FORSOOTH!
Oh man, the first one was an abomination.
its gonna be teh suckiest game to suck that ever sucked.
The first one was terrible. The expansion remade into a sequel scares me Nick. WHY DID YOU EVEN MENTION IT?! (No really, thanks for the heads up)
Two Worlds was decent. It was far from the best game ever made, but it was decent. I liked it. I'll probably pick up the sequel.
The horse riding mechanic overhauled!? Well that will fix everything!
Insert "Fool me once" quote
lolololo
dinosaurs eating a boar... count me in!! Well, not really ...the first one sucked so much it RROD my Xbox.
Ugh.... why don't they do something else. Ugh. The title has got to be cursed or IS a curse.
Oh, by the way , it was only the demo, but that was more than enough to kill my Xbox.
wow. its coming out THIS fall?? hmmm. I wouldnt bet on this being very good if the first one was really THAT bad.
The first game was a decent game.....short and easy , with awful gameplay mechanics , and graphic problems...and bugs....with 0 story...
but decent indeed...
They left the expansion idea behind because it would require them either giving away the core game for free and/or relying on current owners of the original game to buy it. This way, it's essentially a reboot while just continuing the storyline.
I never got a chance to play it earlier, my pc sucks too much and I'm xboxless till I decide to get a jorb, was it really that bad?
Two Worlds was terrible. It was like TES:Oblivion but with all the game mechanics done wrong. And with an ass backward inventory system. I bought it for the 360 and the instant I started playing I felt like I was playing a port from the pc version which wouldn't be so bad if the controls and aiming weren't crap and the frame rate wasn't optimized at all.
I traded it in 2 two weeks later when I got halo 3 (which is now collecting dust on my shelf).
"a game that's far and away better than the original."
yeah that would be the first requirement :-) it sounded like a great idea for a game, trailers were pretty good, but it was just un-fucking-playable on 360, i rented it and gave up on it after 2 hours of suffering!
"a game that's far and away better than the original."
Shouldn't be to hard, since I could shit in a box and put the Two Worlds: The Temptation on it and that would be better than the first.
Really?
..Really?
Two Worlds: Better than the Last One
Thats reassuring, but that would just make it a average game.
Hopefully they actually make a good game out of this, but why bother with a failed IP?
i gave up after i saw the idiotic blood from the first monster i killed and then talked to a guy with retarded text chat that was NOT fitting to the time. Heh to think it came out on the same day as bioshock, FAIL.
Maybe they should just leave this to Bethesda.
CryEngine?
Question :
how many people that thought it was terrible played it on a PC ? I have read that the xbox version was marred with issues but playing the pc version with the latest patch I didn't encounter any until now...
I brought it recently from a bargain bin and I think it's quite decent so far, an interesting mix between Diablo game system and more involved RPGs like Gothic or Oblivion.
It seems to be lacking the polish that Oblivion but has some of the "raw" brilliance that the first Gothic had, but I'm just some 5 hours into it...
@Kurtz: I have it on the PC. I don't think it's terrible, in fact it wasn't even in the top 5 list of worst games I played last year. The issue is that with games like Oblivion, The Witcher, and, heck, even Might & Magic out in the same year, it truly failed to do much of anything right.
Lots of bugs in the PC version at release, very poor storyline and voice acting, clumsy advancement system (IMHO, at least), and it just wasn't all that much after the first hour or two. Of course, in that first hour I had a horse, traveled to some ridiculous locations, and didn't really feel at all attached to the storyline, it was that bad.
So, it's playable, but it's just not at all fun. And, if you owned it for the 360, it was worse due to bugs and the interface controls.
I tried the demo, showed a friend and we both laughed, then deleted it off the 360. I keep seeing it in CEX, and i'm so tempted for that little RPG book and Limited Edition. Maybe when it's £5, i can handle the suckiness.
Aren't they still making expansions?
i admire their dedication but if this one is as bad or worse they are doomed
