PlayStation Web site hacked: SingStar fans are at risk! photo

Sony's US Gamer Portal site has allegedly been hacked and now plays host to a trojan that is attempting to steal the credit card details of those visiting the SingStar and God of War promotional pages.

It's a very by-the-book scam -- the trojan activates a pop-up warning you of the deadly diseases your computer has contracted, performs a fake system scan and then kindly offers to fix all your problems if you hand over your credit card information. Also, if you help this Albanian millionaire (who writes in broken English) transfer all his funds to the US, you will be in line for a significant cut of the fortune.

What a lovely way to celebrate the release of 2.40, right?

Gosh Jim,

You mean people of questionable morals hacked a website that has nothing to do with the release of 2.40? Yup, that doesn't happen often.

lmao.

Well maybe this will help seperate the idiots who would give their cc info to a random pop-up.

@Faceless One

Guessing you never heard of the pretexting issue with the Live accounts. http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/03/23/pre-texting-the-cause-of-xbox-live-account-issues/

Still hasn't been resolved yet by the way or at least not successfully.

I don't get it. I just pointed out it was a shitty day for this to happen when 2.40 is out, and all of a sudden a bunch of people are upset.

I don't take this as a flaw in the PS3 it only shows that a webmaster and maybe some admin that are on Sony's payrole outsourced or not didn't do their jobs to secure the site. To be fair crap happens that can't always be avoided but I read earlier on another site the hacker used a 7 month old exploit to do this. So somebody didn't patch and has some explaining to do.
