That seems too early. I mean if they can get it out that early then go ahead, but hopefully they don't rush the launch.
Having to spend ~$350 is going to absolutely kill my gaming budget for the rest of the year. Hard choices will have to be made. Rent Uncharted 3 instead of buying it? Choosing either Skyrim or Saint's Row? :-(
Well FutureShop.ca aka Best Buy Canada says, its coming March 30 2012, so is one more right than the other, or are they both wrong? You'd think that Sony would of announced it by now, if the system was coming out less than 3 months!

And if Sony makes good product, then more power to 'em. But Sony is already one step ahead in the D-Toid mindset because of price. While the 3DS was obviously about $50 overpriced, the Vita seems like it's worth MORE than the $250 asking price.
Ultimately though, it'll be the games that make people give it a thumbs up or thumbs down.

I really, really hope this comes out this Fall. Not so much because I'm interested, but because the developer Just Add Water said they'll release the two Oddworld HD remakes on the Playstation Network simultaneously with the launch of the PSVita. I want those games already!!

So far all we have are a few tech demos and some reiterations of popular PS3 games, neither of which I care about. I've already played Uncharted, Killzone, LBP and Wipeout. If I wanted to play them again, I'd turn on my PS3.

Sounds like the PSV will have a better launch line up than the 3DS' entire library.
This may be the only Nintendo portable I'll pass on. Ironic since I was excited when I first saw it. But the games make the console not the other way around. Ask the SNES, that thing was awesome.

Hope that no matter which is the real release date, they launch it with a good number of good games. Or else will be the 3DS all over again.
As far as I know, the only thing Sony has confirmed is that they plan to release worldwide by the end of the fiscal year (March 2012), with at least one region scheduled for a holiday season release. I'm sure they'll try to get it on the market before the end of the calendar year in as many areas as they can, but that's going to be up to logistics. I'm not holding my breath for October. TGS should give us a lot more details, hopefully.
@renegade panda well I'm glad most aren't like you then. If I am a fan of those series why would I want to miss out on them? Doesn't make sense to me its not like they are ports. They are all going to be brand new games within the franchise and I would love to play the story.

Crap. Well that throws my 3DS buying plans into the toilet. Now I have to wait until Oct 28 to see what games will ACTUALLY be available for launch because the Vita is gorgeous and I need one...I just need it when it has a game or two that look seriously brilliant.

I doubt it'd be that early. It'd be nice if we got it before Christmas, but I would seriously doubt an October launch, or even an early November launch. It would be well in Sony's interests to get it out by then, sure, but rushing it out would give us another 3DS situation, only perhaps not as bad because the Vita has decent first-party support out of the gate.

Yeah... I wouldn't be getting one until later in 2012 then unless they cancel all the awesome PC/Console/3DS games and make them all Vita exclusive. There's just too much awesomeness all around through to March to justify taking a punt on a new handheld.

It's coming before Christmas. Why would they miss such a good opportunity? Psp go released in october, and Sony likes getting things out before the holiday season. So I think this is a real release date.

The PSP didn't have the most comfortable controls around, so a tasteful upgrade in the form of the PSV shouldn't have any nasty surprises in wait! I should really think about getting this one...
