I was thinking about getting a third controller for one of my homies, I all ready have two, but I need 3. I will just use this instead! This is beyond awesome! This is why I love Sony :3 hehe
And I'm not sure if buying a PS3 and a Vita will be much more than buying a WiiU. PS3 and Vita is $550, I guess we will have to see how much the WiiU is. :O

I think I'd rather use a vita as a controller than a wii u tablet as a controlers anyway. At least the vita doesn't have flat little analogue nubs stuck way at the top of the machine. It's ironic they announced ninja gaiden 3 for the wii u, because it seems like the wii u tablet will be horrible at playing that (inb4 "U CAN UZE CLASSIK CONTROLLER!") not only is that also a bad controller but that defeats the point of the wii u, and I don't want to carry a hanging wiimote around with me for another entire generation)

I don't think it will be as large a barrier to entry as you think. A lot of people who plan on getting the Vita (myself included) already have a PS3. Besides, it's not like its a requirement to have one since the Vita will have it's own games, anyway.

The thing is I bet a lot of the 3rd party efforts on the WiiU are gonna be multiplats where they just add functionality for the WiiU controller.
That being said it should be pretty easy to add that same functionality to the vita and Ps3 as it'll be cheaper being already developed for the WiiU.
For example I'm sure Batman AC for the WiiU will have the touch screen controller support and when the wiiu version is finally completed maybe they can take that new stuff and just patch it into the ps3 for vita functionality, saves a lot of monay and makes more sense when your developing it for 2 consoles at once.
As long as the wiiu is close in power and capabilities of the ps3 and the wiiu controller and vita are capable of the same functionality I can see them sharing a lot of similar experiences with their games and it kinda takes the edge the wiiu had on the competition with multiplats if u have a vita!

Funny thing about this is that Sony promised something like this kind of experience on the PSP and never delivered on it. I'd like to see it happen, but I'm not holding my breath for it. I guess we'll see how this goes.
Sony stealing an idea from someone else? Why am I not surprised? Well, this was supposed to be done with Remote Play on the PSP. And Lair and Blazblue have come from that gem. Oh yeah and I was supposed to use it as a rear view mirror in Gran Turismo. Anyone using that? I suspect it will be implemented with Sony's normal level of half assery and when it gets popularized by somone else, they'll cart back out.

Ya you could say a PS3 + Vita is more than a WiiU costs, but keep in mind that a PS3 + Vita is actually more like a WiiU + (probably much better) 3DS. Plus who doesn't have a PS3 already?
sweet! this is the sort of functionality that makes people on the fence (like me) want this thing even more. I've never been a handheld gamer but i like where the psv is heading.
I was really hoping to hear this. I got a PSP before my PS3 and it was a deciding factor in getting it over the 360 at the time (because even though it didn't have a lot of cross play with it, it had some and that was better than nothing).
Capitalizing on the current install base of PS3 owners who are skeptical of the 3DS and WiiU is a brilliant plan. Especially if some of those indie dev's that have been gifted Vita dev units start bringing their games over to the device as well.

That's actually pretty neat. I might buy into a Vita if any game makes great use of it. As for the Wii U, I want it simply because of Nintendo's first party software and their claims to be advancing into the next-generation. If I can get rid of Microsoft, I'll be set.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. I cant imagine sitting down for a marathon gaming session with that thing in my hands. I'd rather just have someone smash my hands with hammers.

I just paid $22.87 for an iPad2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I bought a DSlite for this reason, assuming it would be like GBA was when playing Crystal Chronicles. Then nothing happened.

@JudgementXD Just make the left and right halves of the rear touch pad act as L2/R2 respectively. I can't see how well that would play out without getting cramps or something of the like however.

Wii U can instantly switch between TV and controller screen and more over user can modify HUD and what is visible on the TV's and controller's screen however he likes. let's not forget ability to run to games at the same time. not to mention the fact Wii U's controller can work with wii remote and other accesories.

This seems like a given, but whatever. Sony is the king of making cool tech and having no idea how to implement it in a fun way. That said, I hope they find fun and interesting ways to utilize this cross connectivity.
Good, if I had a PS3 or intended to buy one. As it is, my only plan for next is getting a PSV for sure.

I wouldn't expect third parties to do anything with this, but it sounds like something that might be an optional feature in a first party title, and since I'll have the PS3 and PSV anyway, I'll totally use it. Right on.
The Vita sounds better every day. I can't wait to try this out.

True, but Sony isn't very good at implementing their hardware to it's fullest potential, other than graphic capabilities. The move is an amazing product, but the only good thing to come out of it is HD Wii games that came out years ago. I doubt we'll be seeing anything major done with PSV to PS3 connectivity, as it is they never did much with Remote Play.
There's really one advantage to this that I see: PS3 developers can implement this technology for whatever games they think it will work well in, just an added bonus for owners of both systems. That's much better than having to deal with an overabundance of useless gimmicks in every fucking game on the platform.
