PlayStation Store Update: Pixels, poker, potter, pucks, and a Proving Ground photo

Sony dropped a big ol' load on the PlayStation Store this week, including two new downloadable games, five demos, and a ton of trailers and extras.

First up is PixelJunk Racers ($6.99), a top-down slot car game that features online ranking and ho-hum gameplay. There's also High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition ($9.99), filling the need for a game on the PlayStation Network for gambling addicts. This title supports online multiplayer for up to five people.

There's demos aplenty this week, including NHL 08, FIFA 08, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground (what, no Skate?). There's also a demo of PixelJunk Racers, which is good, as I would recommend trying that out before you drop $7.

My highlights for this week? First off, there was the scrumptious Soul Calibur IV trailer, which got this fighting game nerd's heart pumping, although I swear it had nothing to do with Ivy's high-definition bust. I absolutely cannot wait for this title.

The other highlight for this week is a free music track from from Lair called "Battle for Asylia" by composer John Debney. If you know your film composers, you'd agree that this is a big deal. Say what you will about Lair, but this is a classy sounding soundtrack. What's great is that more free music downloads for the PlayStation Store are planned for the future. Good job, Sony!

Hit the jump for a full list of releases for this week.

New downloadable games:
• PixelJunk Racers ($6.99) - A single and multi-player slot car racing game, with 32 modes, 10 tracks and online rankings.
• High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition ($9.99) Ante up! Play limit or no-limit poker in five different game types. There’s single player mode or you can play up to five others online.

Demos, demos and more demos:

Of course, more movie trailers and videos and wallpapers for your favorite new and upcoming games:

Pixeljunk Racers is terrible! It's like slot car racing but even stupider. And at 7 bucks this is horribly overpriced, I wouldn't even pay 3 dollars for it.
