PlayStation Store update: horror, cheaper games, Eden, and Nine Inch Nails

PlayStation Store update: horror, cheaper games, Eden, and Nine Inch Nails photo
     PS3

This week the PlayStation Store is all about some discounted titles, a few new awesome downloadable games, some wallpaper, and even a demo for a little game called PixelJunk Eden. As a part of Sony’s “Summer ’08 Game Sale,” PAIN, PixelJunk Monsters, High Velocity Bowling, High Stakes on the Vegas Strip: Poker Edition, and Rocketmen: Axis of Evil will be listed at $4.99 instead of the usual $9.99. In addition to those titles, the episodic and very visceral Siren: Blood Curse and classic shooter 1942: Joint Strike have finally come to the store. I highly suggest buying Siren or at least downloading the demo. It’s pretty cool, even if you don’t agree with the whole episodic gaming thing.

As we also previously mentioned, Rock Band got some downloadable content, as well as Guitar Hero. The big winner from the two is obviously Rock Band, because Nine Inch Nails pre-With Teeth is the greatest band ever. I like to playfully forget that Trent quit drugs and liquor and went all emo on me. Seriously, though, check out “Burn.” Your face will melt off from its beauty.

As for videos, themes, and wallpaper, I couldn’t advise you more than to at least look at the video for PixelJunk Eden if you don’t want to waste your time with the demo. It’s a pretty thing. Also, there’s a Bionic Commando Rearmed documentary out there if you’re curious as to what the team is doing to make the game great again.

Hit the break for the full press release and tell me what you’re going to download this week.

[Thanks, Christopher]

Pixel Junk Monsters is pretty much done and done.

1942: Joint Strike might be bought as well!

I downloaded the demo and the trailer for Siren then watched the trailer and deleted the demo. I can't deal with scary games, I'm still haven't beat Condemned 2 years in.

"...Nine Inch Nails pre-With Teeth is the greatest band ever. I like to playfully forget that Trent quit drugs and liquor and went all emo on me."

Seriously? The Downward Spiral was pretty much a concept album about two things; a character who kills himself by the end and Trent. As said before, he was "emo" for just about the whole time. Although there is the exception of Year Zero and Ghosts. Hell, that came after With Teeth and were genius. But I guess I'm just some Irish fanboy who over-analyzes books and music.

No really, give me time and I could write an analysis on a goddamn Tool album.

The sale price just shoved me over the edge on PixelJunk Monsters. I'll start actually playing it once they get the Trophies in there.
I'll be grabbing the Eden demo too. Hell, maybe even the Eden wallpaper, if it's simple yet attractive.

"Pre-With Teeth NIN?" Someone hasn't downloaded the Slip yet...it's free, get your ass to NIN now.

The Slip is fucking amazing...With Teeth was average, and Year Zero was awesome, as was Ghosts. I really don't see how he's emo anymore; Reznor won't be going all Andrew WK on us...that would be weird.

Anybody try "Burn" drums on expert yet? Holy shitballs.

I just got online tonight and looked through PSN, i couldn't believe PixelJunk Monsters was half price, i've been thinking about buying it for a while but this just sealed the deal.

Also, how is the full version of Siren? i liked the demo, but is it worth the cash?

I was thinking of getting Siren but $40 for a 6 hour downloadable seems a bit steep.

Besides, the mechanics and story aren't really that compelling.

Good thing I didn't buy it on impulse and cooled down for a couple hours.

I totally impulsed and bought Siren in it's entirety, but I'm glad I did. I've been hankering for a good survival horror title. Besides, if you only bought a third of it and finished you would totally want to buy the next pack to find out what happens. Good game, expensive, but good game. Oh, and Eden rox my sox!
