It looks like Sony is finally making good on their promises of delivering PlayStation Network Cards to the masses. Today, it announced that the cards will be available at Walmart, Best Buy, select Sam's Club outlets, and Barnes & Noble College Bookstores this holiday.

The cards -- available in $20.00 and $50.00 denominations -- can be redeemed on the PlayStation Network and used to purchased PlayStation Store content. The cards are currently only available at Blockbuster, Pamida, Meijer Superstores, and Speedway stores ... most of which we've never heard of. We are told that if you've got the munchies at 3 o'clock in the morning, you can get a killer hot dog at Speedway. Not that we've ever had the munchies ...

This is good news for you youngins without credit cards or you geezers with rotten credit. Might we suggest picking Super Stardust HD? It's totally rad.

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) is expanding the availability of the popular PLAYSTATION® Network Cards to additional major retailers nationwide this holiday season. The PlayStation®Network Cards, which can be used to purchase content for PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3®) and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) systems, will be available at Walmart, Best Buy, select Sam’s Club outlets in October 2008, and at Barnes & Noble College Bookstores locations in November 2008.

With the cards, PS3 and PSP fans can buy games, movies, TV shows, themes and add-on content from the PLAYSTATION®Store and other PLAYSTATION Network services. The PLAYSTATION Network Cards are available in $20.00 and $50.00 denominations and are currently offered at BLOCKBUSTER, Pamida, Meijer Superstores and Speedway store locations.

“The PLAYSTATION Network Cards are an easy way for PSP and PS3 fans to obtain great games, movies, TV shows and other entertainment through PLAYSTATION Network and we are pleased to offer them at major retailers nationwide,” said Eric Lempel, director, PLAYSTATION®Network Operations, SCEA. “With the holiday season right around the corner, these cards are an ideal gift option for friends and family, whether they are movie aficionados, dedicated gamers or something in between.”

Additional information on the PLAYSTATION Network Cards, uses, restrictions and retail availability can be found at www.us.playstation.com/PS3/About/pscard.

I'm glad I've actually got a debit card, because the PSN's capability of letting me purchase only as many points as I need is a godsend, and one of my favorite features for the console.

MrSodomy please by all means slam your head agianst the wall. You'l be doing us all a favor by having one less person in the world that spends his life sitting in front of a game station and masterbating frequently.

It's amazing but I tried putting my debit card into the ps slot drive. It continues to come up fatal error. What does this mean? Should I call someone? I mean I tried your mom but it came up busy.

We have some of those stores here in Canada!! Does that mean the cards will be making a jump north of the boarder as well??

The Blockbuster I work for has the PSN cards, we've only had them for about 3 weeks. We actually got them along with a rotating kiosk that also houses XBL subscription cards, MS point cards, and gift cards for games like Habbo Hotel and Runescape.

So far we've only sold some MS points.

I picked up a $50 PSN card about two weeks ago while I was visiting my fiancee in another town @ the Blockbuster store in the nearby town. Also something of interest for those of you who are looking for the PSN cards @ Blockbuster ... if your store is not a corporate store, they will more than likely NOT carry the PSN cards, which is why the cards aren't readily available to me without having to drive a hour and waste the cost of the card in gas driving.
