We here at Destructoid have always labored under the impression that Home is at best a joke and at worst a colossal waste of our time and energy. We are wrong, because this brand new promotional video for the PS3's "walking around" simulator has convinced us all that Home is actually cool, and if you want to be all hot n' trendy, Home is the only place to be! Bodacious!
Sony is making great strides in appealing to the "pretty people with stupid hair" demographic, and I think you'll agree that after viewing the video, we all want a slice of that delicious Home pie. All I have left to say is thank God for PlayStation Home. Without it, we'd have no idea what trendy really is. Hit the jump for the video. Badical!

i love my ps3, its shiny and black, but iv just never been able to get into the whole home experience! are there any plans for its future apart from the life simulator? if you could trade trophie points for something in there it night be interesting
The average age of someone who likes home is probably 12 or so. The average age of someone who buys a PS3 is probably about 26. This is why home will never work as is.
You know Home is like The Sims. Every "hardcore gamer" on the internets likes to crap on it but EA (or Sony in this case) just laughs all the way to the bank.
I love my PS3, but I wish they had taken the development costs of say, "Home male avatar virtual pants style #5 color #3", and instead paid popcap to make Plants vs Zombies a day-one PSN release. But then, I'm crazy.
That ad just shows how much potential the concept has. Needs more disclaimer: "If you go into home thinking it's like this, you're in for a disappointment"
@narishma I think we have a bit of time before we know if Sony laughs (or cries) as they take (or don't take) their HOME money to the bank. btw hardcore gamers don't play The Sims lmao.
I guess Sony doesn't want to admit that Home is just a Second Life wannabe. But then again what kind of people plays Second Life? I guess Home people are trendy, while Second Lifers are weird.
They should put a disclaimer in the commercial that you've just seen EVERY available thing to do in Home and that it's about 500 times smaller and obtuse to use than they make it out to be in the commercial.
I would like to know why Sony released that video and expected people to be impressed by it.
BANG BANG?
No thanks.
HEY I'M A ZOMBIE.
You are not.
I SUCK AT BOWLING.
You suck at life.
THIS IS AWESOME.
Really?
Looks like they've added some stuff since the last time I tried it... when there was one big room everybody hung out in, and everybody looked exactly alike. Still a waste of time though.
I have to say...over the past week...I've actually been enjoying my experience with the new stuff(only new if you haven't played since the week Home was released XP) they added. Xi has also been...interesting...though now that I'm caught up, it's gotten boring waiting for the new puzzles and such to become open. And the Siren space's game is fun for a few runs through also(assuming you can beat the mob at the entrance and the server lag to get into it).
Of course, I had Swine Flu that week...don't know if that may have had something to do with it...XP
if Home ever get's past Beta, and they add the things they promised...
1) Game Launching - for ALL GAMES
2) TV's to play your vids on.
3) Stereo's to play your music on
4) Picture Frames to put your photos on
it will be awesome and I would be happy to have an "autostart" on it and to not use the XMB.
oh yeah, and give me a TV in my apartment that I can watch PlayTV on and I will be in Home ALWAYS.
the only problem is the "performing rights" but hell, if I'm allowed to let friends in real life listen to my music when round my house, why the hell can't i let virtual friends listen to my music while their in my HOME apartment?
I'm currently quite liking the poker in the EA space.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

So I've never heard of this "Home" thing. You can play 10-20 year old games on it after you wait in line with other people right? ::installing::
the black eyed guy with a pink T Shit is watching you masturbate .
Sony should make their new slogan "He said Bang!".
BANG BANG?

I don't think they meant to show that...
