Well how about that? PS3 and PSP sales are up 30% from what Sony expected them to be at this time of the year, leading the company to feel confident that the GREAT DEPRESSION OF AMERICA won't damage the company heading into Christmas.

"We are tracking at 100 percent up over last year," claimed Sony poster boy Jack Tretton. "... About 30 percent ahead of where we should be. So sales could slow down and we will still hit our number.

"I'd say we are able to meet somewhere between 80-90 percent demand, based on how things are trending," he stated, suggesting that shortages would not be "drastic" ones.

Sony expects the big black box o' Blu-ray to hit the ten million unit mark, and for the small sleek smudgemagnet to hit 15 million by March 2009. Will those numbers be exceeded too?

Time, like an escaped Austrian daughter, will tell.

Although many stores around me have sold out of their ps3s, I somehow doubt there will be a shortage.
I second sadistic's chant for our awesome economy.

When this month is over many of us will be crying on the shoulder of the economy.

I disagree with Sadistic's chant.

With the media bombarding us with daily updates of gloom and doom, I'm surprised to hear that anything -- including PS3 sales -- are up. However, pleasing, this news is.

jesus sterling, fritzl was AUSTRALIAN. how ignorant.

surprised the P$3 is doing so well in these harsh times considering it's the most expensive way to play videogames. i suppose the fact that there are like 5 games on the PS3 could be a factor.

@pscho_terror - 5 games huh, that must mean the 360 only has 2? Last time I checked they both get the third party games.

Try some new material, that was barely funny in 2007.

The ps3 has more than the PS3 titles.. You can also play PSX and PS2 games on it.. that is what I would call an impressive library. (dont forget all the free online gaming)
@Takeshi:
Amsterdam is in Holland. shouldn't your chant go "Netherlands Netherlands Netherlands" or "EU EU EU!" lol =) I love Amsterdam too. \m/
