As someone for whome the playstation brand has been a big part of my life since my childhood, I actually quite want R3y Guitarrez' tattoo, you know the X, Triangle, Circle, Square one. Yeah, i want that pretty bad.
So yeah, PS branded stuff is something i would buy, just because I love to show the world that I'm proud to be a gamer, and because I've grown up with Playstation.
If that makes me a fanboy, so be it, but i don't see that as a bad thing.

I predict that the Playstation logo will appear on condoms...and that the phrase "You're not putting that thing inside me..." will be uttered time and again by ladies, despite assurances that they'll feel the "power of the Cell".
Seriously, I'm not putting on anybody's logo emblazoned shirt unless it looks awesome. The Playstation logo does not look awesome.

Sony still needs to come up with a marketable game IP like Halo, Gears, Mario etc. Then if it gets overdone they can just dump it. Sony had a near miss with the Playstation3 irrepairable smearing the brand, they shouldn't push their luck.

The above is straigh up bullshit.
Sony is the place to go for great gaming. Where as Microsoft is a one horse wonder (well 2 horses) where you go to play Halo and Gears. Sony don't need one IP to sell systems for them, they have plenty of great characters and franchises throughout the huge diverse game library.
Just because MS latches onto one or two main franchises and rapes them to death doesn't mean that's the way things should be done!

Here's the thing, we've SEEN excellent gaming T-Shirt designs. We've seen Sony's ability to create iconic graphic design in the industry. This sounds good especially considering every Playstation shirt I have, received as a promo, looks good.
I'll take a copy of the PS tie Kevin Butler wears, a coffee mug, and that grill up there at the top. That thing is awesome. No t-shirt though. That'd just be tacky.

You can cheer-lead for Sony all day, every day. Nobody really cares. But there will never come a day where you, of all people, can legitimately call anyone else a fanboy in a negative connotation. Ever. Understand? That day will not come. When you make fun of a "fanboy" you are also clearly making fun of yourself. There is no distinction amongst intelligent, clear-minded people between a Xbox fanboy and a Sony fanboy.
It's like somebody with Tourette's making fun of somebody with Asperger's or some such thing. It doesn't make any sense.

Nintendo is a virtual related-product marketing machine, but that oddly doesn't seem to bother a lot of people on Destructoid. Strange how that works, isn't it?
