Works for me. This gives me hope that maybe, just maybe, we could possibly, but most likely not, see Kingdom Hearts III on the PS3 (maybe).
Ah well, gotta pony up to play 'dem exclusives!
I can't wait for the endless hardware mock-ups
Judjing by the vita they don't seem to care. And I don't mind either look how much more awesome the vita looks than the 3ds.
Besides they have the time the Wii U didn't leave the greatest first impressionan MS has their own problems, they haven't found their replacement format they desperately need ( and they seem allergic to blu ray still). And then there's gonna be the rrod aftermath because them launching anything a significant time before their competitors is gonna remind people of a certain cutting corners incident.
I bought a 360 at launch, and that will be the last time I do that. From now on 2 year waiting period minimum, fool me once.
If they do the ps4 like the vita it should be all gravy for them , even if its a year later.
Better graphics/physics don't make a better game. Besides I've been having just as much fun with the smaller downloadable-only (often less resource-hungry) titles as with the big AAA games.
Uh...there's more to a system upgrade than graphics. There's the matter that AI is largely restricted by the amount of RAM in current systems, as well as game sizes and assets being limited by storage space (thanks to the 360, which needs an upgrade a *lot* more than the PS3 right now).
the SNES looked "fine" too.
i don't understand how people can act like there's nowhere to go with games now. i'm not a genius game designer but even i can see how more processing power could enable better games.
for example: did you like the destructible environments in BF:BC2? they actually had a major effect on the gameplay, made it more immersive and looked fantastic. imagine how good it could be if everything in a game was destructible. well it's pretty much impossible with current gen consoles, just like many other things.
personally i'm always looking forward to the future, it's just a shame that people like you are slowing its arrival.
I honestly feel just fine with what I have now. There a ton of games I haven't played on every current-gen console - add the PC to that one as well.
Things are just fine by now, even if the current gen looks a little stretched out. Sony should take its time (but not too much time) developing new hardware - graphic bitches don't deserve any attention so devs shouldn't rush things just to please them.
let's not forget also the fact that sony doesn't have anything for ps3 in store for next year aside of Last Guardian(which will probably be delayed to 2013), Starhawk, Twisted Metal(that was PSN title not long ago) and Sly Cooper game made by some unknown developer. not exactly a killer line-up.
add to that all the rumors about ps4 coming in 2013, all of the recent changes in Sony's development studios(the cancelled/shelved several IPs including Resistance) and push to port ps2 and Vita's games to ps3 - it's clear that on E3 or TGS in 2012 we will see some sort of announcement regarding PS4.
I'm perfectly happy with the PS3 as it is.
If there are any "huge" gaming innovations before then I'll build a gaming PC.
When they do release next gen consoles,I'm hoping they do away with the weird shaped cases. I'd like to see them start putting them in something similar to a HTPC case so it fits in with the rest of my electronics.
@Jack1982cp,
Nintendo will always support us, singleplayer gamers(they already stated they won't be doing any DLC for future games). plus there are always handhelds.
I couldn't care less about destructive environments. They looked great on the PS2 with Red Faction.
I'm easily pleased. I don't need physics cards, super duper lifelike AI, and other luxuries. The SNES wasn't fine however - it couldn't render consistent 3D environments. The PS1 or PS2 would be a better example - graphics started to plateau ever since then.
That was a pointlessly condescending comment too. Here's the other example: " it's a shame people crave the next big thing like locusts - we'd get more for our money if it weren't for people like you".
Different strokes, cuz. I own every system and console right now, and a lot of then aren't even HD; yet they still provide consistently solid, fun experiences. Is your fun really that limited by hardware? That must suck, because you'll never be satisfied.
But of course you seem like you have a lot of money to burn so enjoy whatever the next consoles will be. The way things are going now, gaming will only be able to be enjoyed in the future by rich folk like yourself anyhow.
"it's a shame people crave the next big thing like locusts - we'd get more for our money if it weren't for people like you"
yeah, and we'd be living in caves drawing pictures with our own faeces for entertainment.
your comment suggests that 3D graphics are what you consider "good enough", yet i'm sure there are many that would argue that 2D is "fine", because a lot of the time it is - you just crave the luxury of 3D. i find your attitude kind of contradictory, i mean you say you don't care about destructive environments, yet you say they were great in red faction? so you did like them? anyway, firstly red faction looked great at the time, but is dated now, and second it was just an example. if you can't think of anything you'd like to see developed in games that couldn't be accomplished by better hardware then as you said "that must suck" because it strikes me as seriously lacking in imagination.
oh and looking back that comment was more pointed than i intended it to be, my bad. when you write "people like you" i guess it usually gives the wrong impression. i stand by the point though, being averse to technological development is just counter productive.
:)
I mainly am laid back in terms of technology when it relates to the luxury known as video games.
When if comes to tech in general? Spec me up babeh! I want tablets with 1TB built in storage with optional cloud storage, USB 3.0, built in 4G; you name it. But that's because it's general purpose tech that I'm using for 1,000 different purposes and not just entertainment. I'm not adverse to change at all.
Na, I need to see better visuals otherwise forget it.
i'm not to different in that respect, which is also why it irks me that consoles are lagging behind PC gaming to such a great degree - if they weren't holding developers back we'd have better games and better tech. my PC is of course a general purpose machine, but the only thing i can say that really justifies using an overclocked quad core CPU to write code or browse the net is that i also use it for gaming!
as for "luxury", yesterdays luxury is today's standard. i drive a car, eat fine foods have central heating etc and gaming is just the same. it's not a necessity of course, but being able to play videogames has been the standard for some time. anyway i still don't really get you except that you don't want to pay money for better graphics which discounts any possible innovation derived from overcoming the technological limitations of the current gen hardware. as a gamer i want to give developers as much freedom as possible.
anyway, only commies hate progress!! get with the program.
