PlayStation 3 for only $350 with limited-time offer photo

Wow, does that headline read like an infomercial or what? Act now and also receive this set of Ginsu knives valued at over five-hundred dollars completely FREE!!!

Anyway, people are always telling me "Haley, don't mess up your credit" and "Dude, if she was still unconscious I think you may have broken the law", and for once all their wisdom has paid off (or at least the part about good credit, that chick totally wanted me). Thanks to an offer on SonyStyle.com where getting approved for a Sony credit card will net you a $150 rebate in the mail, you can get a 60GB PSTriple for approximately $350, plus tax and shipping.

Considering the PS3 is almost worth having and how incredibly kick-ass Happy Feet looks on Blu-ray, that's not a bad deal at all. Throw the five free BR movies on top of that and all you will have to do is sit around for a couple years until Final Fantasy XIII finally comes out.

Hit the jump for complete details on the offer and more on these awesome Ginsu knives!

Via Sonystyle

Sony Card is issued by Chase Bank USA, NA, and is subject to credit approval. Card credit will be applied to your Sony Card account 8-12 weeks after your first purchase of $299 or more ("Qualifying Purchase") at SonyStyle.com or Sony Style Stores. Offer expires August 31, 2007. First purchase must be made by November 30, 2007. In some instances an application may require additional processing, in which case Instant Credit will be unavailable. When you are approved for the Sony Card, you will receive your account and CVV2 number on-screen. Please make sure to make note of your account and CVV2 number as this information will not be available until you receive your card in the mail. If you are approved, you will be able to make a one-time purchase at SonyStyle.com only, with up to a maximum line of credit of $5,000. Additional purchases with this account cannot be made until your card is received in the mail. This promotional offer is available for new Sony Card account holders only; existing Sony Card account holders or accounts are not eligible. The Qualifying Purchase must post to your account between August 1, 2007 and November 30, 2007.

Thanks to Action Bastard for the tip and PS3mods for this handy deal walkthrough

Holy shit!
See, when I braved the lines to get my launch PS3, I got a lot of shit from people. I kinda understood that. Now that you can get one for this price - I'm really going to hear it....

It's a good move on Sony's part, especially with the 360 seeing its own price drop in a couple of days.

I wanted to title this post "PS3 for 360" or vice versa, but then I couldn't have done my Ginsu knives bit.

I think the sacrifice was worth it...

I was worth it for the bit. But if you would have put both "360" and "PS3" in the same title, the post would have shot straight to 400 posts within a matter of minutes.

Apparently, it's a Firefox glitch that makes people retarded.

If I didn't just blow like, $600 at IKEA and move into a new place, this would totally be worth considering. With all that and PAX, I'm totally not spending anything serious for like... a while.

But I did buy a STFUAJPG shirt this weekend <3.

This seems like a great deal, but then I realized that I would essentially be buying a Final Fantasy machine. No thanks.

Devil's Advocate post (just to get this out of the way because it's bound to happen): Some call X-Box the "Halo Machine." The 360 has great titles out for it now and the PS3 has some great titles lined up for it (Ratchet and Clank mother fuckers, do you play it?)

@William Haley

Thank you for not mentioning the 360. We certainly can't stand to have more than one thread full of lulz per 24-hour period. *eyeroll*

As for the deal, yeah it sounds like a pretty good one. I'm almost tempted to take them up on it myself.

Just a word of warning...

I signed up for this card back in January for a similar offer (wasn't just for a PS3 back then), and until you have the card in your hands, you don't have that rebate. They may artificially delay processing your card to deny you the rebate. If you want to jump on this offer, do it immediately. Anyone that within say a month or so of the offer expiring runs the risk of losing on the deal, since it's Chase's discretion when they process your credit app.

Well, I bought my PS3 on New Year’s Eve last year...what are you going to do. But anyway, here’s a thread at the AVS Forum where people in the know rate Blu-ray movies in order of their picture quality. I enjoyed Happy Feet, but in case that’s not your cup of tea, there are quite a few movies that are ranked higher:

Wonder if they are making the difference back with 2000% interest on the card.

Knowing your average credit card APR, it wouldnt suprise me.

jk, that's a helluva deal, even for the BluRay player alone.

I was planning on getting an hd-dvd for my 360, but then this deal came out. I would get this, but if Chase doesn't hurry the fuck up with the credit approval, then they lose my business. I wonder if there is a way I can tell them that?

@bobby baloon: Call ’em. In this day and age of computerized, DIY tech support, I prefer to speak to a real, live person (Indian accent or not) 100% of the time.

Just bully (don't go insane or soccer mom on them though) them into giving you an American, if they give you outsourced customer service. You can usually negotiate something like this more easily with an American who knows English, than some dude who knows none reading out of a "How To: Customer Service" manual.
