Playing House of the Dead 3 with the Wiimote

9:10 PM on 03.16.2007

One of our readers, Tiger, decided to have some fun with the Wiimote and give it some hax. Over at Global Donimation, he describes how to write a script for the Wiimote that allows you to reload by pulling the joystick back or by shaking the nunchuck. If you prefer to play without the nunchuck, then go ahead and reload with the A button.

I got to talk with Tiger for a few minutes about the Wiimote hack that he's been working on, and here's what he had to say about the Wiimote in comparison to a light gun:

It's not the same, because you can't "aim down the sights". It's similar to playing the shooting minigames in Rayman on the Wii, but it feels more authentic than using the mouse or a controller. Plus there's rumble "recoil."

Personally, I find all this modding for the Wiimote pretty sweet, especially with FPS and light gun games. Hopefully we'll be getting some decent FPS games on the Wii soon. Third party publishers, I'm looking at you! Don't let Red Steel stop you from making a decent game!

Also, check out the rest of Tiger's videos after the jump.

Also, this is my 100th post on the site. Wow, I am a lazy ass writer.

Despite all evidence to the contrary, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege isn't just about destroying track homes until a hostage is either saved or killed. It's much more tactical than that. Sometimes you have to go on the ...more

Review: Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel: Claptastic Voyage

With Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, I like and dislike different parts of it in almost equal measure. The combat is exciting and the characters are likable. On the other hand, the environments are a little dull and it suff...more

Borderlands: Claptastic Voyage screenshots, we got 'em

The first and only big story piece of downloadable content released for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel earlier this week, and I just finished playing through it. As usual, I took a bunch of screenshots as I played through. Fair ...more
