Player death won't stop the Heavy Rain from pouring photo

Good old David Cage -- always trying novel things. Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) was certainly a unique game, and it looks as if Heavy Rain is going to follow suit. According to Cage, the game's story will continue even if the main character dies:

"I can’t really tell you too much about what the story’s about or how it’s going to work with the characters, all I can tell you [is] that your character -- the main character -- can die, and the story will continue ... You can continue to play, without this character, of course."

Interesting! Cage did not say whether the game was possible to play from beginning to end as the main character -- a female journalist investigating some disappearances -- but if you can, then this could be a very interesting idea indeed.

The Quantic Dream man did confirm that the story would continue as it would if you hadn't killed the main character -- it's "one big story."

Sounds hot, and as a big fan of Fahrenheit, I am looking forward to seeing what Quantic Dream pulls out of the hat. I have faith that Cage and his team will deliver an interesting, novel and altogether dark videogame. Not dark in the immature, "this is so gritty" style that most developers think is terrific, but dark in the dark way. The good dark.

The way I want to hear that, it sounds like Omikron, Quantic Dream's soul hopping Dreamcast game, featuring David Bowie.

Kudos to him if he can make maintain the awesome of character shifting with the narrative sensibilities of Indigo Prophecy.

Chances of this coming to Xbox 360 also?

I fell in love with the trailer that came out some years ago. This game looks amazing. Sounds better every time something little like this comes up.

I don't think it has the power...

Omikron would have been swell if you could invert the fucking first person aiming. What kind of baby doesn't play inverted? RIDICULOUS!

Also, what kind of people fuck with all their clothes on?

Unfortunately if this happens what are the chances that the characters will be as richly and well developed as they should be if they can die and the game continues?

It was a cute touch in Omrikon but it didn't help the story out really.

Sounds good, not sure about the gameplay so far though.

@Holyetheline: The dev said that it would come out on the PC and probably the 360 too.

As long as they keep the stupid cults with stupid names out of this game it should be pretty good.

I detest having to write Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy every time I talk about the game. No doubt I'm going to have to write "Heavy Rain / The Origami Killer" When the change the name for Botswana or Cambodia or somewhere, just to spite little me.

That sounds really cool. Player death as a part of the evolving plot, thats hardcore. Multiple storylines and endings for a story based character driven game. Woo hoo!

Damn it, I really have to go back and finish Fahrenheit...

I like this idea, as long as, as mentioned, the characters are truly developed, and losing one isn't just a novelty to a story that is independent of that character. Do you know what I mean?

And I also need to finish Indigo Prophecy. I liked what I played a lot.

@UglyPhil

I propose a change to Fahrindigo. We gamers do love our abbreviations and contractions.

I just want to know if this game has any nudity or sex scenes. With realistic graphics like that, controversy would increase tenfold.

@Clance
It's not a matter of power. Sony pretty much owns the game, as I understand it. So no, I doubt Sony will let this one out of its hands.

@Professor Pew: I very much doubt that. The game will be published by Sony, so it has the same chance of coming to the 360 as Gears or Halo coming to the PS3.
