Gamers are inherent masturbators, so it's no surprise that Playboy regularly reaches out to them with nude renderings of videogame girls. BloodRayne, Velvet Assassin and Clive Barker's Jericho are among the D-list games that have featured in the magazine's annual nudey spread, but for 2010, Playboy's going a bit upmarket.
AAA titles like God of War III and Heavy Rain are making the cut this time, with lovely pictures of high profile videogame ladies totally in the buff. If you want to squirt your mess over some classy game girls, then the January/February issue of Playboy is the place to do it. Here's the list of lovelies due to be featured:
- Hecuba Manaros -- God of War III
- Lolita Chang -- CrimeCraft
- Skylar St. Claire -- The Saboteur
- Beatrice Portinari -- Dante's Inferno
- Bella Antonelli -- Mafia II
- Madison Paige -- Heavy Rain
Certainly a step up from previous years, and having seen the full article, I can tell you that it's pretty hot for anybody who happens to be into that sort of thing. We can't show you the whole thing, but hopefully the provided teaser is enough to wet your whistle, yes?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Also, is this one of those posts where you tell us straight up that it's wank/pageview material, Jim? ;D
But what the hell is CrimeCraft?
honestly heavy rain should be called, uncanny valley - the game
its just... damn
@ Xzyliac
You must have missed that. There was no controversy or tits for Sterling to talk about. It was just an all and all shitty game.
i know, peak your interest would have been funnier
It's true.
I'm feeling the same way.
I thought Heavy Rain was supposed to be this game that would be an argument for the "games are art" movement - an incredible emotional experience. However, this makes it seem like business as usual. Just using sex to try and sell the game instead of a "tasteful" usage of nudity that I think I was half expecting.
Where the fuck have you been? Quantic Dream has been pushing sex since the very beginning. Since before we had the technology to make it look attractive. Shit there's a nude seduction scene in one of the demos and supposedly it's the "tame" scene.
As far as I'm concerned sex is sex. I don't think this is all that bad. To be fair, with the advent of the Internet and in comparison to other porn mags like Penthouse, Playboy is rather classy.
At the end of the day it really is just a general interest mag with boobs. If you think this is "over the top," trashy, or offensive you must be a boring ass lover.
Indeed.
And yeah, Indigo Prophecy a.k.a. Farenheit had not only nudity, but full-on bumping and grinding, all with rather old graphics, roughly Halo 1 quality. So... yeah.
Personally call me a pervery but I found the nudity in The Sabotuer to be well done and at times rather sexy. I don't see how it's any different from nude art which can also be sexy if done right. It's time we all got over the rush to accuse others of being immature to make ourselves feel superior and realized that naked women have been found to be sexy and alluring since human beings formed the first villages and it's quite ok.
Truth to tell, you could consider this one of the more legitimizing things to happen with games. Consider all these titles: most if not all of them have a Mature rating. It was creepy when you've got, say, Lara Croft, because of the "low res" nature of her character model and the confusing cross marketing of that character.
These characters aren't icons in their own right. However, they're being highlighted in a magazine that appreciates the female form, however scummy or noble you interpret that appreciation. Its kind of a huge nod to the crafting of characters. These characters are getting their highlight as high quality character models, as well as legitimately emotive personas.
Of course, that's all dependent on how much artist or appreciative merit you assign to Playboy.
Prudes. :)
Oh my God. I hope someone else sees the irony of this.
@Gee-Man
I totally agree, and chalk that up to either poor writing (almost a given with most games) or poor marketing.
I am well aware of the video that they posted, but I interpreted that they were just trying to show that this was in fact a "Mature" game, and that they weren't shirking away from mature themes, including nudity.
To me, this is the equivalent of having Mena Suvari appear in Playboy before the release of American Beauty, to let people know "hey we have boobs in American Beauty." I mean I thought this was supposed to be an "arty game." I thought the nudity was included because it served a purpose to the plot. Maybe I was mistaken.
I don't know how much of the rest of your comment is directed at me (offensive as it is), since I've never indicated that I thought the spread itself was "over the top" or offensive. I just thought the inclusion of it was in bad taste of the game developers/publishers, who I thought were trying to market the game for it's artistic merit rather than as gratuitous display of pixelated breasts.
Couldn't agree more. Tiny head, grotesquely elongated limbs...I just don't see the appeal.
If you want an ass-kicking, hot video game chick with crazy hair, you need look no further than the dearly departed Nariko from 'Heavenly Sword.' If she was in that spread, I'd actually stoop to buying Playboy.
