Playable demo for Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. coming very soon photo

And by "very soon," I of course mean "tomorrow" for Xbox 360 players, "this Thursday" for those with a PlayStation 3, and "February 26" for PC owners.

The demo for H.A.W.X. will include a couple of missions, a few playable licensed aircraft, and 4-player co-op. I didn't know the first thing about this game until reading Hamza's impressions, but it sounds like something I'd like to try out.

The last type of combat flight game I played was Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader, so it will be neat to see how we've progressed. Then again, Rogue Squadron II was phenomenal, so I'll probably be disappointed.

TOM CLANCY'S H.A.W.XTM DEMO AVAILABLE FEBRUARY 11 ON XBOX LIVE® AND FEBRUARY 12 ON PLAYSTATION® NETWORK

LONDON, UK – February 10, 2009 – Today Ubisoft announces that an official Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X™ demo will be available for download for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft on Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network beginning on February 11, 2009 and for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system on the PLAYSTATION® network beginning on February 12, 2009. The demo will be also available for Windows-based PCs beginning on February 26, 2009.

In this demo, players will dominate the skies for the first time and battle planes, tanks and amphibious assaults and have the opportunity to dogfight with other elite pilots in a stunning panoramic boss scene.

Key features of the H.A.W.X demo:

• Co-op enabled for up to 4 players – Jump in/Jump out

• Gain experience points and unlock up to three real, licensed planes in the demo:
o F-16A Fighting Falcon
o SU-35 Super Flanker
o AV-8B Harrier II

• Choose between two different game modes:
o Normal – Default control type
o Expert – Allows full control over the aircraft in “Assistance Off” mode

• Two heart-pounding missions:
o Operation: Off Certification (Training mode)
• Learn the skills of an elite pilot in “Assistance Off” mode and pull extreme maneuvers

o Operation: Glass Hammer (Rio De Janeiro)
• Take flight over GeoEye technology (the world’s best satellite data), and witness Brazil like never before
• Learn to use the Enhanced Reality System in “Assistance On” mode, where your plane’s computer calculates the best interception course for you to follow to attack an enemy, evade a missile or hit a ground target

Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X will be available on March 6th 2009 for the consoles and on March 13th for PC.

Check out the old game Descent 3 for some insane flight action. There's still a community and people still play it online. ;) Even after 10 years of flying the Pyro GL around, I still find it challenging to fly against other humans in that game. Check it out.

Well, I'm excited. Ace Combat, though I loved the series so, didn't really do it for me with 6. It felt sparse--yeah, I know it's the sky, but other AC games didn't--and dropped the plane customization from the PSP game.

If I can use my Ace Combat 6 flightstick with this, it is a definite purchase. If only to justify my purchase of the AC6 flightstick and for my love of Jet Fighter games.

I just want every flying game to be Ace Combat 5 though...

When is the Wii version coming out?

KIDDING!!!

Seriously though, are there any noted differences between the PS3/360/PC versions or are they all basically "same thing, different console"? I know that screen shots showed some remarkable differences between PS3/360/PC versions of Fallout 3, especially with respect to texture and viewing distance.

And a more general question on joysticks ... all of my PC joysticks are USB based. Will they also work with the PS3/360 or would I need to buy one specifically for that console? To me a flight simulator, whether cockpit or chase view, needs a joystick.

@ArcticFox: I've been eyeing that Ace Combat 6 flightstick setup as well...

YES! I can't wait to try this game out! I bought a Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas for my PS3 recently in anticipation for this game. I started getting bored of just using it for the Beyond the Red Line demo and the Wing Commander games, so a HAWX demo will be most certainly welcome. :D

I can't wait to try this out. I love air combat games, but Ace Combat 6 didn't really do it for me. Probably because I got stuck on the level with the flying fortres. I hope this is going to be good.
