People doubt iDevices so much, yet the iPad 2 and iPhone 4 are basically capable of clouding/emulating anything. Sure, a lot of other devices can do it too, but you get the added joy of having millions of people working on Apps for iDevices, because it's popular right now. Android will have it's time: but for now, it's all about Apple.
*in before people say "iPad2? It's not out yet?!?!?" This is based on the performance specs I've gotten from a few friends of mine (2048 x 1536, for a pixel density of 260 dpi/multi-core).
This is impressive, but what's the damn point? How far away can I be from my PS3 and have this still work? Also, why wouldn't I just sit down at the PS3 and play it?
Why would you trace out a triangle or square when you're trying to do attacks in God of War? That seems incredibly inefficient. If they can set up a PS3 controller to be connected via Bluetooth to an iPad, then I'll be impressed.
The short of it makes this sound a lot like the way that I understand Remote Play to work with the PSP, less the additional software, video capture cards, and gestures. Too bad Sony wouldn't consider just making a Remote Play app for iOS.
@JulianProxy: How much does it suck that they never really did anything with it?? Much like the DS and Wii connectivity.. Didn't go anywhere.. I really wanted it to too.
It'll be nice to see this working on Android devices... especially since so many of those have, you know, physical inputs so you're not reduced to stupid gesture commands or on-screen tapping.
This is really amazing, though. I'd love to be able to do this, but running my system through a capture device on my PC is a bit much. Even if it were working for Android, I'd probably pass due to complexity alone.

The NGP wouldn't HAVE to be jailbroken necessarily. The PSP already does this out of the box for a select few games, and ALL media that you can view on your PS3.
Assuming I have my PC on and I have a WiFi connection, I can view any media that's on my computer, streamed through my PS3 to my view on my PSP.
It actually works pretty damn well (good video framerate and audio sync) though I haven't found much use for it.

I wonder if these guys have talked to Sony about making some sort of official app for this?.... though frankly, if you have to have your PS3 turned on and you have to be close to it to do this, it turns out to be a bit useless. If they could do something with Sony and offer PSN games as apps... I'd buy some for sure!

Cool but it doesn't beat the PSP for me. The game playing feature is impressive but largely pointless, and the media feature is bested by the PSP.

Isn't it always the way, the coolest things turn out to be totally pointless. Take video calling for instance. It appeared in countless sci-fi movies & when it came along it was meh. Even now Apple are trying to re-brand it with the cringe worthy term 'Facetime' *shudder*
Meeh, why would you need to have ps3 on you iphone unless it actually emulates it? I think nintendo ds emulator should get worked on, it's been proved possible, so why aren't devs making one? i'd love to have my nintendo ds and ipod all in one. I'd even pay money for it.

Amen to that! There was some very neat potential with that, but instead, we got a VPN VNC connection to play PSX games that we could just download from PSN, anyway.
