Play Madden 10 with a guitar controller! Wait, no... WTF? photo

Destructoid reader Will sent over this picture he snapped in his Owensboro, KY, Best Buy -- it's a box for Electronic Arts' Madden NFL 10 that proudly displays this erroneous sticker: "Play with a guitar controller or expand to a band."

This little "WTF?" moment is obviously an error; as far as we know, you can't play Madden NFL 10 with a guitar controller. While some developers have worked the guitar into their games in interesting ways (Tecmo's Xbox LIVE Arcade/PlayStation Network platformer Fret Nice, for instance), we'd guess the folks at EA Tiburon probably haven't given this much thought.

Nerjyzed managed to work a drumming mini-game (compatible with the Rock Band drums) into their title Black College Football Xperience. If, in some alternate reality, Madden NFL 10 did support Rock Band and Guitar Hero guitars, just what on Earth do you think it would do? How would it work?

well of course the controller is compatible. green = a, red = b, etc. it does that for all games, just like a DDR pad for all games.

there certainly isn't any more designed for it though

Hey, wow. I love very close to Owensboro, KY.. (I'm in Evansville, IN). Never expected to see anything about this area in here..

Ok, anyway.. yeah, this looks like a pretty obvious mistake. Funny though.

I tried playing Tekken with a DDR pad back then. If I try to pull of even
just a 3-hit juggle my lungs explode.

It's funny that that is coming out now. I work in retail and the videogames are handled by an outside vendor. The vendor gave us the stickers back when like Guitar Hero: World Tour came out.. and just now people are sticking them on random games? really?

I've seen this as well, back in April:

I just figured they were too lazy to peel the stickers off the cases whenever they reused them for other games.

Used to pull stuff like this back at CompUSA years ago (my first paying job). Sure, that FMV title comes on floppies. Yeah, Mortal Kombat is okay for 3 1/2 year olds. Ah, fun.

I dunno about guitar controllers, but some fighting games are incredibly fun with drum controllers.

I was just thinking: Someone once said that music was the purest form of communication, so this might actually improve gameplay. Especially for Scribblenauts.

You know what's funny? They actually test Madden with a Guitar Hero controller.

Not joking.

Haha, this reminds me of when me and a friend played one of the maddens with a guitar and a ddr pad, just to see which was easier.
(it was the DDR pad)

Don't knock it until you try playing Soul Calibur with both a dance pad and Rock Band drums.

This is just Best Buy employees being lazy and not taking the sticker out. I took a pic of NHL 09 with the same sticker a few months back. Just thought it was funny. Heres the link if you wanna check it out. http://www.break.com/usercontent/2009/6/guitar-nhl-09-749411.html
Do body checks by slamming the guitar into your friends chest lol.

I'm totally going to petition EA Sports so that this hilarious dream can become a somewhat comical reality. Maybe I'd actually play a football video game then.

Because we all know the only football game series that truly mattered was NFL BLITZ. Especially the original and the ones for the original Xbox and N64. That shit is my JAM. I really want to play those now.

Those stickers were actually sent out by Activison during Holiday of 2008. They were supposed be be placed on every copy of Guitar Hero World Tour. Chronic Logic and Kismet are right. Best Buy is just lazy/ not interested. If yu look you'll notice that the stickers are on the plastic anti-theft devices, or "Keepers" in every picture.
