Play Killing Floor for free this weekend photo

Here's another free weekend courtesy of the cats at Steam. This time, it's Killing Floor. The promotion will start up tomorrow, so now would be a good time to commence pre-loading the game while you still can.

Co-op for six players, a survival horror-style setting, and the fact that you'd normally have to put up $19.99 to play Killing Floor add up to be a pretty convincing argument for why you should be excited. Or, knowing how jaded the Internet can be, you should at least have a reaction other than "meh."

Is that too much to ask? Oh. It is. Hey -- don't say I didn't try.

I still can't read anything about this game without thinking about Troy McClure.

Don't let the name fool you, Dexter. It's not really a floor.

Having owned the game for a long while I'm comfortable with saying that this game is fairly good - it's exponentially better the more people you play with plus the weapons have a decent variety.

@MrSadistic: It's more of a steel grating that allows material to sluice through so it can be collected and exported.

This sounds really fun. Maybe FnF material?

Nice, left4dead is my staple game so I've been pretty keen to try out KF.

Game looked interesting, but I wasn't sure if my computer (read:laptop) was up to snuff. Now I shall find out. For free.

Ah, excellent!

I played it at a friends house, and loved it. Pure, simple, zombie killing fun. Pretty much what Survival Mode in L4D should have been.I have just held out because I don't know if my computer can run it. It's Unreal Engine 2.5 so I'd assume so, but now I can be sure.

I hope this helps:
Someone told me about this 3 days ago, and I love the game. I suggest trying it. My computer is not that good, so maybe this will put things in perspective a tad, it runs really well.

2.0 GHz Athlon 64
1 GB DDR400 ram
GeForce 6600 OC (512MB version)@1680x1050 on 22' LCD

I play this on medium to "higher" settings, with some customizations depending on what I am doing with my computer at that time. It's not L4D, but it's a good time, and a decent price.

Also, incase anyone doesn't really read about it before trying, there is a perk system involved that will make you stronger, but I've not seen a problem with that yet, as higher people don't tend to play in beginner servers.

It's really not a good game, but theres no reason not to try it on a free weekend. It definatly has a niche attraction, if low polish and annoying brits are your cup of tea..

Take it from someone who owns it, this game is not good. Use the free play and enjoy what you can out of it, but it is not worth whatever money they want for it.

It's an awesome game to play with friends, it has a ton of user made maps, and it's not really expensive, I played it with friends almost everyday until we got hooked on League of Legends.

What's cool about Killing Floor is there's this thing called "single player", so no AI bot or 13 year old will mess things up for you when you just want to "play a game".

And it's great with friends too!
