I played it for a bit at a friend's house: the combat was great, but the game was all around terrible.
I wasn't even aware the level cap was so low. What is this, Borderlands?
Jim, if you want to dabble in a free MMO, you'd be better off just playing D&D Online's Free To Play scheme: it's also terrible, but not as abysmal as Conan.

Up until the end of Tortage, is the only part I had any fun with - and it was indeed quite a bit of fun. Unless something has changed a ton though, I would expect you will likely lose interest after that.
The problem is the level 1 to 20 content is a lie. It is incredibly polished, every NPC and quest has voice acting, and there is a very clear story arc for the quests that you do that lead up to a big epic battle at the end. Once you leave noob island you find that there is no more voice acting and the quest are your standard kill 20 this or collect 50 of these.
Bah, nevermind. Thought they were actually giving away the full game, not just a trial that never ends. Lame.
For all the hype being given to voice acting of late in MMOs, its the very leatt important thing and MMO developer needs to be worrying about. They need stories to tie things together, sure, but they need content that stays interesting.

Wait...this game still exists? I guess I'll remove it from my list of "Games that totally arsed itself" and put it back on the list of "Games that attempted the Sex Sells gimmick and so far failed miserably". Don't think I'm gonna bother downloading it either, as I'm sure there's at least 10 free Korean-made MMOs that would beat the shit out of this game.
Gotta agree with the other posters, I enjoyed levels 1-20 in Tortage but as soon as I hit the open world, I was done with the game. It's worth downloading just for the opening area
Tortage is part of what makes me not want to play. I played through most of it in beta, playing it over again is boring and waste of time. It is almost just as bad as the Everquest 2 tutorial zone, except you can't skip it.
Yep, Tortage is the interesting part of the game. I ran through it on probably three or four characters while I was subscribing last year when I found the CE for $1.
It's also pretty much the only part of the game that had voice overs for the NPCs. Going from the lovingly crafted island out in the cold world of text only and forced grouping is quite jarring.

Yeah, this just in.. companies no longer want to make money. Surely you've read about this in all the headlines by now, right?

So they give you the only good bit for free instead of trying to actually make the rest of the game competent? Jesus Christ, we were complaining about these same things a full year ago and they haven't done anything about it.

Been playing FREE trial 3 months ago (7 days or so, free with no limitations). Lvled up to 26 and stopped playing. Kinda boring and not so many people nowdays.
And now Fcom wants to attract new people by cheap trick - giving something already meant to be (or already been) free :{
