Platinum: Bayonetta doesn't look like Sarah Palin, IDIOT! photo

It seems that Platinum Games has finally had enough of the Sarah Palin comparisons, and I can't say I blame them. That crap got old last year, but that hasn't stopped the "joke" from being driven into the ground. The Bayonetta developers have finally responded to the endless accusations that their titular character resembles the former Vice Presidential candidate.

When recently asked about the comparisons, a weary Hideki Kamiya (director) asked, "People are still talking about that? ... Honestly, the only thing that I see in common is that they both wear glasses.

"Yeah, It is old. Well, you know the thing is, in the US they say Sarah Palin. In Japan, they always bring up people like Angela Aki. I think they say something similar in every country. That country's famous glasses girl ... The thing with that impression is, you know, we've put out plenty of trailers now, and when you play the game and see the cutscenes, I think people will recognize Bayonetta as Bayonetta. Then people will look at Sarah Palin and say that she looks like Bayonetta."

When Kamiya talks about the "famous glasses girl" I think he makes a very good point about how superficial gamers can be. The similarity between Bayonetta and Palin really does begin and end with the glasses, and I think it's very shallow that that's all people needed to make a comparison. Perhaps this is time for some introspection from those who perpetuated the myth?

Or maybe they'll just go back to claiming that women who are far out of their league aren't "hot" or "bangable," since that's what these types of people do best.

In the time I've spent following Bayonetta, I have never once made any sort of connection between anything in this game and Sarah Palin. So there...

I think it's a mixture of the "glasses girl" thing and that when Bayonetta was first shown off it was also about the same time that Sarah Palin came into the public eye (Crap, why does my brain have to create sexual meanings for everything).

Man, those were a few good weeks when I stopped remembering that people like Sarah Palin think they're qualified to lead countries or even participate in government.

People originally made the comparison because Palin hit the height of her fame about the time the game started being shown. I think the reason it stuck is because the comparison does work on a superficial level. And really, the incongruity of imagining Sara Palin in that game and in those situations, half naked and killing demons, is really funny, for me at least. I think that's why the joke keeps being made. Because deep down, people probably really wish that it was Sara Palin jumping around in high heels made of pistols and flashing her cleavage while killing monsters.

Am I the only person who think Bayonetta isnt stunningly attractive? Its like every part of her isnt quite in proportion and yet everyone keeps going on about her looks.

Yes finally, and here i thought i was the only one; she's been annoying the hell out of me

Really i think it's her head. it looks to be WAY to small for her body... i mean it's obvious in this pic, she's right next to that other guy, her body looks fine compared to the size of his, but you can see that her head is half the size when it should be about the same size...

and that pic kinda urks me in that it doesn't feel like she has any kind of grip on that gun...

actually i think she does look kinda like sarah palin, only with a ridiculous badly proportioned body.

why platinum is even bothering to comment on this is bizarre, i suppose they must be a little annoyed to hear that not everyone thinks bayonetta is as hot as they do.

I have never understood any of the comparisons to Palin I've heard. Palin isn't attractive at all to me, but then I see all these beautiful women in glasses compared to her.

I can only guess that all these comparisons were made by people who did not grow up in a household full of bespectacled family members as I did. I can relate to faces just ever so slightly better when they have glasses on them. Apparently most don't, and can't even tell the difference between people's faces very well when glasses are in the picture.

It's like how I've heard people in the gamer community call anyone with a goatee and glasses a 'Gordan Freeman' look alike. While I'm left thinking "But the head shape, nose, brow, and chin are nothing like Gordon Freeman's?!?!"

Honestly, never really thought of Sarah Palin when I saw Bayonetta. Now, the female villain from FFXIII is a whole other matter entirely. Woman SCREAMS Palin.

the glasses are exactly the same as Sarah Palin, plus same hair color and generalish face shape. It's not exactly uncanny or anything but the resemblance is their beyond just having a glasses. Don't defend your video games so bigorously. Seriously, that's the start of the slippery slope to fanboyism. jeez.

Nah, it pretty much does end at the glasses. If you've ever seen Bayonetta and/or Sarah Palin in motion, you know their faces are different shapes, and their body language sure as heck isn't the same.

By the same token, I don't see anyone comparing her to Tina Fey, who does look more than a bit like Sarah Palin. I don't see any "Transitive Property of Equality" action going on here.

I guess I had no idea that this was an issue, let alone worth commenting on. I've never even heard a comparison between the two until this story. And for the record, Sarah Palin is hot. Bayonetta? Eh...yes, but all the hair is kinda too much. Having her hair wrap around her body as clothes may be interesting character design, but it's also kind of gross.
