Platidumb! Metal Gear Solid V won't have platinum trophy

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes won't have a platinum trophy. Hopefully that doesn't bother you lot that planned to infinitely replay the short, replayable game. Kojima explained on Twitter:

The reason GZ doesn't have Platinum Trophy in PS4 is due to SONY's regulation. They won't allow us to have them for non-full price game.

Though I've long outgrown achievements and trophies, this did actually discourage me from buying Resident Evil 4 HD on the PS3, as I thinly rationalized the platinum as an excuse to replay a game I've played over and over already. It also bothered me a bit after sinking infinite hours in Lumines: Electronic Symphony and not getting my virtual gold (platinum) star for doing all the things.

But hey, Metal Gear Solid 4 didn't even have trophies for the longest time. It certainly didn't stop people from getting that Big Boss emblem. This doesn't affect your console choice, does it?

Modders hilariously put Kojima into MGSV: Ground Zeroes' starring role

While there's nothing inherently wrong with console games, I get a certain amount of joy from PC mods that aren't possible on other platforms. One such mod is a new fan-created change to Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, th...more

Metal Gear Online has Fulton sentries, puppy plushies

I thought Metal Gear Online was neat on PS3 outside of Konami's separate log-in system. At the Game Awards, Hideo Kojima introduced a trailer for the online aspect of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Metal Gear Onl...more

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes platform exclusive DLC will eventually see a full release

I really enjoyed Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes for what it was, and despite many people calling it a "short" game, I've clocked around 30 hours so far -- far more than the vast majority of regular releases. Part of ...more

There's a mo-cap dog in this Ground Zeroes making-of video

I adore watching VFX studio reels, so when I heard that Konami had released one for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, I just couldn't help myself. I had to click. And here we are. At three minutes in length, the video is wo...more

So how do the two platform-exclusive Ground Zeroes missions compare?

As you may have heard, both Sony (PS3, PS4) and Microsoft (Xbox 360, Xbox One) have their own piece of exclusive content for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. This isn't a pre-order bonus mind you -- it's built into every copy of the game. Naturally this can lead to a choice between the two, so let's take a look at what you're getting.more

Here's everything you can do in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

As you may have gleaned from my review, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is not for everyone. It only features one area, very little story, and it's only a glimpse of what's to come in Phantom Pain. But that doesn't mean it isn't a ton of fun to play, and there's plenty to do outside of the relatively short story mission.more

Forget zombies, bears are the best part of H1Z1

H1Z1 is a game about surviving the zombie apocalypse. It should be a game about surviving the bear apocalypse, because they are way fucking scarier than any zombie. But, maybe that hits too close to home since bears migh...more

Final Fantasy: Record Keeper is out today, and it kicks the crap out of All the Bravest

Final Fantasy: All the Bravest was a travesty. It played itself, it was pretty abrasive in its pandering, and the microtransactions were so pushy that it was hard to enjoy it without feeling like you were constantly being sold something. Final Fantasy: Record Keeper is another free-to-play game in the same vein, but it's a much better effort that doesn't feel straight-up insulting to fans.more
