Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare dated for Xbox

12:45 PM on 11.21.2013

On paper, a team-centric third-person shooter multiplayer game based on Plants vs. Zombies sounds like a cynical mess, but from everything I've seen of Garden Warfare, it may well be one of my most anticipated games. There's a gun that is also a dolphin, people! PopCap has dated the Xbox 360 and Xbox One title for February 18, 2014 in North America and February 20 in Europe. Last we heard, the PC version was set to be released "shortly after" this launch.

On Xbox One, Garden Warfare has a couple of extras -- splitscreen co-op and Boss mode, which uses Kinect or a SmartGlass device to put players in more of a support role with an overhead view of the battlefield (think Battlefield's Commander mode). There's a price difference between the two versions as well. The game is $29.99 for 360 and $39.99 for Xbox One. Suits me!

Now, I can't say I'm expecting this to be the next Team Fortress or anything but, again, it does look promising.

PvZ: Garden Warfare is getting substantial new DLC and it's free

I've been pleasantly surprised by the way Electronic Arts and PopCap have handled Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. First, the game itself is loads of fun -- the foundation is solid. But more than that, they don't have paid...more

Impressions: Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare (Xbox 360)

It's as if we slipped into some alternate dimension. The long-awaited Plants vs. Zombies 2 went straight to mobile, passing over PC fans, and while it wasn't bad -- not at all -- I sure lost interest. Instead, it's PopCap's t...more

Very Quick Tips: Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is a pretty unconventional shooter -- and that's partially why I liked it. Instead of your typical cookie-cutter classes there are choices like killer potted plants and teleporting scientist zombies, so things can get a little complicated once you're learning the ropes. Here are some quick tips to help you get acclimated to the world of Garden Warfare.more
