Plants vs. Zombies coming to Nintendo DS in 2011 photo

Seeking to spread zombie carnage across every conceivable platform, it appears that we will be able to expect a version of PopCap Games' Plants vs. Zombies on the Nintendo DS. The news comes from the Twitter of Laurie Thorton, a PR specialist who has previously worked on promoting the XBLA port of same game due out next month. According to her posting on Twitter, the DS version will release in January of 2011.

Good. I'm happy to buy Plants vs. Zombies for what feels like the tenth time. Every edition has had its own unique qualities and I can't wait to see what gets added to take advantage of a second screen. Actually, now that I think about it, it's probably time I went to check on my Zen Garden.

The first Plants vs. Zombies port that actually makes sense IMO. Playing the game with a controller or by dragging your fingers around just ain't the same as the mouse and keyboard. But the stylus + DS controls could work well.

Matt - Ya because using your fingers is completely different to using a stylus.

@Waterman: Yes. Yes it is. There's a reason writing by coating your finger in ink and dragging it around a page never took off.

This should've been the first platform to have ported on. I was one of those who pre-ordered the game on Steam. Since then, I thought it'd be perfect on either WiiWare or the Nintendo DS (even though there's already a homebrew demo version available). I've been waiting years for this announcement. Must share!

Wow, I can't believe they still haven't made a port of this game for the DS. I won't be buying it, but I bet it'll be awesome. All of Pop Cap's DS ports are usually pretty good.

That sounds really cool. Maybe turning it on it's side and placing what you want where? I don't think the screens have a high enough resolution for one screen...maybe...just maybe, 3DS instead? Then again, I don't know the resolution for those screens.

Ok so does this mean that PvZ is the new Dragon's Lair ?
As we all know your system isn't officially a system unless it has a port of Dragon's Lair... looks like the torch has been passed to PvZ

I actually have trouble going from the iPhone version to using and mouse & keyboard. I find the touchscreen much better fit for this particular game and thus my preferred version (so far).
While I've read that the 360 version works decently, I'm curious to try it out for myself. I hope they nailed it though since I'm really interested in the new modes.

I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up being the best version. I know the DS port of Peggle was my absolute favorite way to play.

It's not just the touchscreen, it's multitouch.

Being able to place multiple plants simultaneously works really well in survival mode. That's why I prefer the iPad version over the others.

Why doesn't this game just fuck off? I loved it when it first came out on PC, but jesus, how many ports?

Make a sequel if anything.
