Pixel Mario art is as adorable as it is stylish photo

In the fast-paced world of gaming news, it's always nice to take a breather with a low-key, artsy story every once in a while.

First up, oZEPPELINo over on the Sprite Stitch Board! forums made a nifty project that I would love to steal and hang up in my office. Combining sticker labels, 1/4" foam board for backing, and an Epson ink jet printer, they created a marvelous Super Mario World sprite of Mario punching Yoshi in the back of the head.

Hopefully I didn't just blow your mind with that last remark -- it took me years to realize Mario was in fact hitting Yoshi to make the poor creature stick out his tongue. Anyway, the other project, a Super Mario Bros. 3-style quilt of Tanooki Mario, is a bit more wholesome. I want one!

I always thought he was pointing forwards in an 'Onward!' sort of way.

Also, I'm loving the fact they used labels. A lot of projects like this use specialist materials and techniques, but this one's so much more fun and attainble.

I might have a go over the Christmas break!

Yeah, he's totally hitting him. I had that innocent reality crushed years ago. The rationale I keep giving it is that Yoshi's smiling. At least he enjoys his abuse.

Off topic - Guys the new fucking "try to track your comments" system is fucking terrible.

The old, heres the stories you've posted on, expand comments system was brilliant. This new, here's the stories you've commented on, in some fucktard random order over and over, with random fucking comments bullshit makes actually tracking your conversations almost impossible without reading every fucking comment every other user has posted on it.

I've had to resport to going back through the main page, finding posts which i remember commenting on and then going through all the comments to find any responses.

This sucks massive donkey cock guys, sort it the fuck out please.

*Bop* *Bop* *Bop* *Bop*, yep you POW! ol Yoshi on his head to make him spit out his tongue. Hes also so dumb he runs off ledges and happily falls to his death as you use him as a temporary platform to get that key.

Nice effort on the art.
