He is mad and in denial, I think part of the deal that Gearbox got with this game was that they own the IP and can make the next game how they want. But I think that Forever bombed SO BADLY (in every way possible) that no one will probably publish another Duke game, despite the fact that a Gearbox one made a 100% by them would at least be competent in the worst case scenario.
Never mention Half Life and Duke Nukem Forever in the same sentence ever again. I will find you and beat you with a copy of Duke Nukem Forever. In fact, forget the beating. I'll just tie some fireworks to a copy of Duke Nukem Forever and set it off.

Lets also factor this in - Half Life 2 is an 8 year old game and shooters have actually advanced beyond the groundwork HL2 laid.

I'm hoping that the brand of Duke Nukem isn't too badly destroyed, as a Gearbox-developed sequel would probably have a better chance at being good. The awfulness of the humour would stick though, I'm guessing, so we can only hope the game mechanics are at least competent.
Apparently the pc version was patched, and ended up being somewhat better. I can't confirm that since I got the xbox version free... And I still want my money back.

What? This really wasnt an internet-bandwagon thing with DNF, where the game was liked early on and the internet hipsters turned on it later. DNF was a game that pretty much everybody in the entire gaming world hated pretty much instantly.

That's a comment that I personally think is off the mark. But I may be alone in thinking it was not awesome. I haven't checked the metacritic score, maybe it's critically acclaimed. Who knows.

To me dnf was really fun and refreshing for an fps.
Sure it wasnt that funny but i have faith in gearbox to create a duke nukem game from scratch that would blow my balls off!

My friend got me DNF as a joke gift for Christmas. We played it that night, and honestly, whatever hatred I had for the demo kinda dissipated. I just felt sorry for it. That being said, it wasn't NEARLY as bad as some reviewers made it out to be. Sure, it looks like shit, the jokes are mostly unfunny, and it doesn't play smoothly, but you know what? I'm happy we got the game at all.
Actually, he says the game has pacing and similar environmental puzzles elements to Half-Life, not that they're entirely similar in general, and actually I have to agree with him on that one.
DNF was totally an insult to my senses, and yet that is exactly what I expected it to be. I mean he is a total pig, but we all knew he was and as a world it was fun exploring it even if the actual gameplay sucked.
I would stand by his statement that its similarly paced as Half Life 2 (which, by the way, was made 8 years ago and further proof DNF belongs to a different generation), but he lost it when he says the game was really funny and anyone that doesn't agrees is just trying too hard...

I don't understand the hate for DNF, the game wasn't awesome but it wasn't horrible either. I don't regret playing it. Fun time waster.

Was it hilarious? No. Was it borderline retarded at times? Sure. However it's a game that allowed me to throw fecal matter at walls and enemies and laugh endlessly about it.
Duke Nukem essentially gave me the right to act like a complete ass in a way most other games don't as you feel like your betraying the character.
That said was DNF fun to play? Besides the basic stuff it could end up being a real chore during boss fights and it was fundamentally broken at timee. Pretty archaic stuff.

The fact that gearbox made hl:bs and hl:of gives a bit of credibility to what he is saying. Well, maybe credibility isn't the right word. What I am looking for is 'I'll allow it'.

HL2's pacing didn't have regenerating health and only 2 weapons at a time. So Randy, I think after all this time you still don't get why gamers disliked it. That's sad.
