Pinball FX2 is headed to Mars

12:00 PM on 04.11.2011   |   Maurice Tan

ZEN Studios has announced a new "MARS" table is coming to Pinball FX2 on April 20, 2011, for 240 Microsoft Points. MARS will support the usual Pinball FX2 things like SuperScore and Wizard Score, as well as adding some new achievements.

I've been a bit wary of getting into Pinball FX2, mostly because Nick and Conrad had a time-ruining highscore rivalry going on for a while, and I still need to play too many games that I bought but never got around to playing. Then again, the trial tables I played were pretty fun. Anyone have any recommendations on which tables to get?

The Marvel tables are the best on the platform, I would highly suggest them.

I'm looking forward to some new table releases.

Day One! Pinball FX 2 is the best game on XBLA! Woo!

Rocky and Bullwinkle, Earth Defense, Buccaneer, Street Fighter II, and the Marvel Tables are my personal favorites. Honestly they're all pretty good though.

Cheers guys, but I think I'll have to go with Bacchus' recommendation!

Is this basically what Zen Pinball on the PSN is with a different name?

The Marvel Pinball tables are easily the most fun/frustrating XBLA experiences I have had. Those are a good starting point, but beware: Pinball FX2 becomes quite an addiction. My wife and I have been playing pinball daily for almost two months now, and it has yet to become tedious.

I thought this one was on Pinball FX2 already, weird. Here's hoping they bring more of the PSN exclusive tables over.. I'm tired of lusting over Paranormal.

Also, I think Rocky and Bullwinkle is by far their best table (of the ones I've played.) It's easy enough at the start to actually draw you in like a real pinball machine would rather than expecting you to make stupidly difficult shots in sequence right away.

It could be that most of their tables are just too cluttered (although admittedly very easy on the eyes); but it could also be those 'new and improved' physics at fault for making certain shots far too challenging to make with any consistency. I honestly can't say; but all I know is that even the hardest tables on the awesome Pinball Hall of Fame collections are much less frustrating than the Zen ones. These guys need to be working together. >_>

Flow Krow: Yep, same company makes both, and many of the DLC tables are available for both Zen Pinball and Pinball Fx 2. Big difference is Pinball Fx 2 acts as more of a platform where you pick and choose which tables you want to buy, similar to Arcade Room on 360.

Pinball FX 2 is great.

And MARS is good fun; a well designed table.

The old Pinball FX 1 tables (Rocky & Bullwinkle, Extreme, Speed Machine) are very poor by modern standards. They just don't compare. The Core tables of Pinball FX 2 are vastly better.
