Outside the dedicated and nebulously legal emulation scene, PC hasn't received much virtual pinball love lately despite being its birthplace. Zen Studios is changing this by bringing Pinball FX 2 to Steam on May 10. The title previously arrived on the Windows Store in October, but it should hit a larger PC audience on Steam which is admittedly devoid of quality pinball titles.
For those new to Pinball FX 2, it's a free-to-download platform that offers a number of table packs based on Star Wars and Marvel, along with some original creations. The six packs available at launch will go for $9.99 each. Turns out pinball is still expensive.
This is perfect timing for someone who has recently become obsessed with pinball via my Nexus 7 tablet. Here's hoping Pinball Arcade follows suit in time, as I love the sound and look of the original tables. Beggers can't be choosers though, so I'll savor playing Pinball FX 2 in HD with a controller and Steam achievements.
