I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled an Ubi and attached the possibility of that with the success of this compilation.
they lost all cred when they didnt localize the last game
"apcom says that the DS games will be bumped up and remastered for iOS devices later this year. "
LOL ios port bumped up
...but damn if that isn't a shame about those pixels!
BTW - The first one is already in the App store and it's only $5. So here's hoping that the pricing is decent. Maybe they will be motivated to bring the second Edgeworth game over to the US finally.
I'm not holding my breath Scotty, although it would be nice. I *may* pick this up given how nice the graphics look. That and I have been obsessed with playing games on my iPad lately.
Well, Kerry, Capcom are nothing if not horribly overreactive towards short term trends, so we might be able to put one over on them in this case. :-P
Also, I should mention the other reason I'm not getting the iOS version is because I do not have an iDevice, besides an iPod Classic.
Also: fuck virtual sticks. I'll take any excuse I can to say that.
To explain it differently, there's only two bits of lighting information in every screen shot. Directional light and cast shadow. There should be ambient lighting softening the SHIT out of the cast shadow, considering I don't think the court is only lit from the front, and the rest of the room is in darkness.
If I feel like it after class I'll do what I can to fix it and show everyone the difference :3
I'm sure that nobody really cares, but I did a quick and dirty 5 minute mock-up (with a mouse) of what I see wrong, at least with the Phoenix Wright picture. The judge is technically OK, though the line art still kind of bothers me versus the original sprites.
My lighting isn't perfect (because hey: I'm just learning this stuff myself), but essentially the theory goes as such: there should be three point lighting (as in: 3 different types of light) per scene. There should be ambient light (the light that's cast all around the room, bounced off of surfaces, etc). Cast shadow appears in places that the light doesn't hit.
After that, we have directional lighting. As in: the light that's coming directly from the source and hitting him straight on. In the picture it appears to be coming from the right (thus why the majority of the light is on his right side). Being in a courtroom, however, the light should be coming from all around him. You wouldn't have such dramatic lighting in this case.
Last but not least we have the rim light. Not always necessary, but if you do it you need to execute it right. If you look on his back shoulder, all the way to the neck, we see a rim light. However, it stops at his hair. Going by logic, the bottom of his spiked hair should be lit, of course wherever the spikes block the light it should be in shadow.
TLDR: Kinda fixed their lighting...
...And that's the sound of nobody giving a fuck :P
