Nippon Ichi's tactical PlayStation 2 role-playing game classic makes its way to Wii, and this Japanese trailer from Gamekyo gives us a first look.
This looks like...the PS2 game. This time around the game has new characters and story elements, and keen (and geeky) eyes will recongnize the addition of Plenair to the lineup. Although aged a bit, it's a damned fine videogame, and I wouldn't be suprised to see it come out here.
For now, it's a Japanese release, slated to hit stores there on March 12th. There's no US date, but I would think since the Wii install base is so huge, and knowing that the localization is already done, this would be a prime title to bring over.

Why make a new game when you can port an old one and add a few new features? I'd blame the economy, but they (game developers) have been doing things this on the Wii since its inception...poor Wii.
I agree with shoop, as nice as it is for Wii owners to finally get another game worth playing, these SRPG's are well suited for the PSP and are just that much more enjoyable in portable form!
I think I'd be very happy to see all of Nippon Ichi's games ported to PSP!
This would be far more usefull if the tough economy wasn't keeping me from being able to afford brand new Wii games. I'll pick up a used ps2 copy. I'm still working on Disgaea anyway.
Who wants to bet when this bombs on Wii Nippon Ichi will swear off Nintendo development, crying bitter tears that third-party games don't sell on Nintendo consoles.
@Novakaine - I doubt that because NIS games are very niche they didn't sell well on PS2 or PSP or DS and they won't on Wii regardless of region. I think that as long as they get some profit out of it they will support it.
This is great news! I look forward to hearing of a U.S release. fingers crossed. thanks for the heads up. I'd like to see a wiimake of makai kingdom too.
@Kyousuke
Not to be condescending, but have you played it yet? It's actually one of the easiest SRPGS out there. If any SRPG attempted to reach out to the casual audience, this would be it.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
With that said, hopefully NIS is spending more time making a Phantom Brave 2 and less time porting this.

I'm sure this will sell wonderfully on the Wii.

Nipon-Ichi could have tried a little harder...
