PETA takes the fight against seal slaughter to WoW photo

PETA is taking the fight against Canadian seal slaughterers to the digital plains of World of Warcraft. A call to arms was placed on PETA’s official blog this afternoon, asking people to take part in a fight against four Horde miscreants that apparently, uh, kill seals for their luxurious fur.

“Thrall refused to ban the slaughter of seals, despite multiple requests from the Alliance to do so, because Orgrimmar stands to make a large profit from the fur,” reads the posting. "Activists from across the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor are banding together to put a stop to the atrocious seal slaughter. Anyone who slaughters baby seals for their fur must surely be in service to the evil Lich King."

So ... if you’re hot for some animal activism on a snowy plain, just head on down to Howling Fjord (WhisperWind realm) on Saturday April 11, at 1 P.M. (Eastern). Look for the baby seals and the (presumably) throbbing mass of angry people crowding them. I’m sure it’ll be a rousing event.

The worst part is there is a whole quest hub where you do quests to kill hunters for DEHTA: druids for the ethical treatment of animals. I wonder if they even know blizzard has already made fun of them?

LOL! Good luck on this event, PETA. You're holding it in a level 70+ area, on one single server. The only people that will actually show up will be people that already played on the server and just want to crash the event. There may be some 70+ PETA guys on Whisperwind I guess... maybe it's the official PETA WoW server? All I know is that if I had a 70+ on Whisperwind, I'd grief the hell out of this event.

What's sad is that I don't even play WoW and the fact that they'd have the Alliance plead with Thrall is just laughable.

Now that a lot of you have made more a fool of yourselfs than PETA ever has I should inform you that they really have nothing against you killing animals in games. They use these games to draw attention to REAL animal mistreatment in the REAL world.

It's funny the shit PETA does. I live in one of the most liberal cities on the west coast, and we recently had a PETA demonstration of a bunch of people in bloody fur coats protesting fur coats.

For the record, they even admitted to the local news interviews that they did not see one person wearing a fur coat.

Also for the record, as I was driving by on my way back to work from lunch, when I saw the PETA sign on the corner, I rolled my window down and shouted "For every animal you don't eat I'll eat three!"

Maddox would be so proud.

Guys, read the article it links to. They're not protesting against killing seals in WoW. They're using WoW as grounds to stage a protest against Canadians clubbing seals.

I don't think theres a level requirement to enter Northrend at all. Even if there was, the requirement would have been 68+. Its definitely recommended to be 68+ though if you want to survive out in Howling Fjord though.

The Canadian government didn't give a shit about your real protests (like everyone else who isn't a PETA member does with all your protests), but I'm sure they'll change their mind when a bunch of MMORPG recluses get involved.

Nah, there's a lot of problems with the seal hunt. Primarily that the EU has been waffling back and forth on banning import of the furs. If that happens then it'll be unprofitable and it'll stop but it'll also knacker the maritime economy and destroy a lot of lives for a while.
