PETA jumps on Call of Duty dog killer bandwagon photo

The other day, we shared with you the story of a bunch of students who whined about the fact that Call of Duty games allow players to defend themselves against attack dogs. Not one to miss an opportunity to spread nonsense and self-promote, North American Man Horse Love Association PETA has joined the fray and condemned Activision's FPS series.

"Not since we were pitted against Nazi attack dogs when we first escaped from Castle Wolfenstein 17 years ago have we seen such barbaric treatment of dogs in gameplay as we did in Call of Duty: World of War," declares PETA. "To help the folks at Activision Blizzard learn about the ethical treatment of animals, we're offering to let them take PETA's "Developing Empathy for Animals" free of charge and are sending a package of Nintendogs games to their office."

At least PETA is having a bit of a sense of a humor about things. Nevertheless, PETA and the students that started this silly bitchfest are about two years late to the party, considering it was 2007's Modern Warfare that first featured hot man-on-dog violence.

Luckily, PETA is unaware of Modern Warfare 2, where players will be able to feed bits of giraffe to other giraffes while Colonel Sanders watches and wanks off into a dying chicken's gasping beak.

This is just utter idiocy, how can you accuse COD:MW, and COD: WAW of violence against animals??

The dogs in those games TRY TO RIP YOUR NECK OFF, heck, I'd say thier sole purpose in that game is to kill you, I know PETA is ignorant, but this is just beyond all sense. To say that you should feel guilty killing the very animal that is trying to kill you, is irresponsible, and idiotic. I find it confusing why they would say those words, simply because Activision will never listen to them. Being completely ignorant is disgustng, PETA.

How can it be barbaric killing attack dogs??

I know PETA is an orginization that, at best, is misguided, and at worst, a slight on humanity. But I never knew that they were also, for all purposes, stupid.

You see, you guys aren't being "progressive" enough. You have to put yourselves in the attack dogs shoes. Then you will see it is just a victim and only acting out against what society has put it through. If you were TRUE PROGRESSIVES you would let the dog kill you as you feel guilty for its abuse.

Someone should put these protesters and PETA fools in a room with a Nazi attack dog and see if they still hold their opinions. Somehow, if they survive, I doubt they will view this the same way. Seriously, grow up, this game represents war, and things like this happen in war. Quit PETA, join Habitat for Humanity, Teach for America or the Peace Corps if you really want to help things. These people need to STFU if they're going to ignore common sense and just complain about this stuff. They really must have too much free time if they're going out of their way for this crap.

God, do none of them understand the irony of what they're doing? Complaining about the fact that you can kill dogs in Call of Duty implies that killing people is okay. They have no qualms with virtually killing humans, but when you virtually kill a dog (one that is ripping at your throat), they get all up in arms. WHAT?
nic_disassembly's Avatar

No there's a misunderstanding...you are SUPPOSED to kill ONLY 83 to 86% of the dogs...any more and you're obviously guilty of animal cruelty (1)...any less and you're being inhumane by leaving them in Nazi hands (2).

In all honesty, it's not the dogs fault for wanting to kill the player. They have been subjected to harsh mistreatment by those they accept as master and know the only way to avoid more abuse is by fulfilling their roles as killing machines. In some ways, the dogs are charging at you not to kill you but to instill enough fear that you may point your gun at them and end the pain of their existence. In that sense, the dogs see the player as their liberator, their savior. They were created to be monsters against their will and the only freedom they will ever know freedom is through Death's touch.

PETA, do not deny these dogs their escape from Hell.

Oi vey. PETA never ceases to amaze me with their stupidity.

Some developer needs to just make a fur simulator for the Wii, with minigames like bash the baby seal and skin the cuddly kitten. That would really ruffle their feathers.

PETA and their bs. Get stuffed, PETA.

Keeping animals as pets is just as cruel and eating them, because we were meant to do neither.

Virtual killing of animals I've been doing in many years of Resident Evil, and these fools didn't care then. Why start now? Go figure.

I'll continue shooting 3d dogs, til i get tired of it thanks, and feel no shame in it.

I wonder what they had to say about DEHTA (Druids for the Ethical and Humane Treatment of Animals) in Wrath of the Lich King? That's positive, right? Of course that doesn't stop me from jumping into the middle of a pack of baby elephants and mind searing them to their death. Bwhahaha. If I can learn anything from this, is that if you stay away from PETA for more than 3 minutes, they will have forgotten all about this.

PETA are pagans/animalists - people who literally worship animals. They aren't for "equal" treatment - PETA see humans as scum and animals as divine, blessed, holy, always-good creatures. PETA have this disney-inspirid, fuzzy-wuzzy notion that all animals are joyful, happy and non-violent. They literally believe "The Lion King" accurately represents Animal life.

As someone who has studied animal biology and behavior, and as actually BEEN in the wild (1 year studying the forests near Kota Kinabalu) all I can say is that if animals had advanced technology, they would be even worse than humans when it came to killing.

PETA are literally insane, identifying and imposing their own values on animals. We can't talk or communicate with animals in any effective manner, we don't know what they're thinking or feeling. PETA, on the other hand, thinks that animals are just like people, just in a different form. They literally believe that animals have concepts like equality, freedom, democracy and so on. They believe that animals can think just like people, despite having NO evidence to that claim.

But have no fear - PETA and people like them are a very small minority. A very vocal minority to be sure, but they are far, far too small to do anything. The real people you need to be afraid of are the "Animal Liberation Front" groups, who are basically just terrorists, willing to kill scientists and people all to help "wobbles-the-rabbit" get out of that awful, awful cage.
