Oooh, yeah. Baby, baby. The latest entry on the Japanese P3P Blog drops some hints on what's coming up next from Atlus.
Producer Katsura Hashino split the Persona 4 team into two. Half of them worked hard on PSP game Persona 3 Portable, and the other half went to work on something else. Hashino says that next year he'll begin working with this other team on this new game, which he calls "extremely interesting." There's absolutely no clue as to what it might be about, but it is nearing completion, so I'm guessing we'll hear more about it soon.
There's maybe even better news from this same blog post. Hashino also said that he would soon begin working on "that." Starting next year, the two teams will converge to work on "that," says Andria Sang. What else could it be but Atlus' next game in their flagship series?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
... pretty please?
I already sold my soul to Atlus, so I don't have anything else to barter with them. :(
Fail. I can understand if someone didn't like the Jpop or some of the other aspects of the game, since it's not for everyone, but the game has an outstanding battle system. Easily one of the best in any JRPG.
"What about Persona 5 for PS3 and 360? :) Everybody would be happy :)"
Alus almost never does multi-platform releases. It would be either just the PS3 or just the 360. (So basically just the PS3.)
I'm glad you know what jerking off with battery acid as lube is like.
On the other hand, I reaaaally need P4P, since my PS2 stop existing while I was playing P4
New SMT core game to go along with Strange Journey please.
Too bad that's not going to happen. Don't expect to see another core SMT for another few years at least.
I had to borrow my friends PS2 to play 3 and 4. Didn't really care for the games before I tried them out and realized how great they are.
So it better be that.
*drops the mic like B-Rabbit and walks out*
(P5 would be awesome, but a new SMT game would be faptastic.)
I am intrigued. Very intrigued.
They're waiting for the other half of the team to finish up their current project so the teams can join again and work on whatever mystery project they have lined up.
but im curious about this new project.
It's less to do with being an "idiot fan" and more to do with living in reality. In a perfect world we'd get to see Persona 5 on PS3 and 360, both versions would run flawlessly, and everyone would live happily ever after.
But eventually you have to come back to reality and face facts. Atlus USA doesn't do multi-platform releases, like ever (the most you'll get out of them is a port/remake sometime down the line). Not to mention they have 0 development experience currently with either the 360 or the PS3 (attempting to do their first ever simultaneous multi-platform release during their first ever experience developing for both the PS3 and 360 would be absolutely insane), which means they'd inevitably pick one console, and since the PS3 is significantly more popular in Japan than the 360 it would without question be the console they'd choose between the two.
Of course the idea of an HD Persona 5 is a bit of a fantasy in and of itself. It would be wonderful, but given the company's budget there's a good probability it would end up on a console like the Wii or even PSP/DS instead.
Normally, I would agree and say that when it comes down to it, that'd be the only option and the mature thing to do.
But then I looked at your past comments and realized you're one of those hypocrites who wants NMH2 to be ported to the 360/PS3 because you can't be half-assed to buy a Wii. Irony is a depressing thing sometimes and I suggest you list to your own gospel before you preach it to others.
