The best RPG of 2008/2009 gets a re-release, with everything I love from Persona 4 being carefully and lovingly handled by the best publisher in the world of gaming.
Said best RPG would also be released in a fighting game format, also handled by my most trusted fighting game developer that is Arc System Works, which also created BlazBlue, Guilty Gear and Lambda-11.

Obligitory whinging about how Persona 4 is getting a fighting game and it's not a general SMT fighting game instead.

I had no interest in the Vita before this announcement, and now I have no interest in this port. I'm not even sure why, and it's a little disconcerting. But all the same, even though I was in love with the original release, this doesn't change my tepid reaction to everything I've heard about the Vita. Perhaps in a couple of years I'll pick this up, he says rather presumptuously expecting a localization, but until then this is rather disappointing.
I'd like to see the fighter in motion. It'll probably never capture the sheer perfection of an homage fighter like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, but I'd like it to be fun. The screenshots I've seen from scans are not particularly exciting, but that could all change in motion, and I hope it does.

How bout porting persona 4 to xbla , that would be great ! I don't want to plug in my ps2 everytime I want to play it !
I don't care about the Vita port in the slightest, along with anything to do with that machine, but HOLY SHIT PERSONA FIGHTER BY ARC SYSTEM WORKS, ALL MY DREAMS HAVE COME TRUE.
I hope it's a spiritual successor to Jojo's in some way, but still, can't go wrong with Arc.

If it's a 2D fighter why can't they fit it on handhelds? Vita would surely be powerful enough. Interesting that they're keeping it in 3D. I own this on PS2 but haven't gotten around to playing it yet, maybe I should just wait for vita?
Who saw this coming? Now Atlus USA is a fighting game power house. They've produced King of Fighters XIII, Arcana Heart, and eventually (like they're leaving this in arcades) Persona Arena by Arc System Works.

Ugh, this hurts me. From the extreme craze of HD remakes on the newer consoles I expected to be one on 360/PS3. :(
should be 3DS - mostly because i don't want to pay 250euros just to play 3 games since there's nothing else remotely interesting besides this, LKS 2 and new Vanillaware title.

Lol @ Sofik, thinking Persona 5 will be on the 3DS... As for your first paragraph, your not the only person in the world. You may only find 3 Vita titles interesting, but that also applies to the 3DS for some people.
Finally, I've been waiting 3 years for them to announce a new iteration of P4. I held out because I knew they would modify the game somehow. I'm so happy it's on a portable too, it's so much easier to beat long games on a portable. I thought this might have been the Persona 3DS game that was announced a while back ago, we still haven't gotten any details on that, I hope it still exist.

Also, I'm MUCH happier that they're going with the Vita for the Persona 4 remake instead of something current. I like Persona 3 Portable, but SO MUCH of the charm was lost. FES is still the best version of it, bar none.
I approve. I've already preordered a Vita, so P4 is a definite purchase (just have to find time to finish P3P first, damn you Pokémon!). And I love fighting games and Arc System Works with a passion, so they might as well go ahead and take my money now for that.
I barely played Persona 3 (I'm not really a JRPG kinda guy), so I'm mostly interested in seeing what Arc does with the series. I love me some BlazBlue and GG.

As I already said on Japanator, this is the news that will probably convince me to buy a Vita. Of course, that just means the Vita now has a grand total of 2 games I'm interested in. A port of P4 and a new Little King's Story. It's going to take a bit more than that to make me drop $250. When it goes down to $200, I'll really start thinking about it.
Then again, it's Persona 4. At this point, I'd kill and then sell other people's organs just to afford a Vita to play it. Anyone in the California area with no particular attachment to their kidney, liver, or heart?
