I really hate how Naoto looks in this. Long hair isn't a great look for Naoto and it really doesn't fit her. She looks like she's in her 20s because of it, even though it's only a year after P4.
I like the idea, but I can't help but feel pessimistic about it. I've gotta feeling that Naoto's character won't be faithful to how she was in Persona 4.

Ugh... I hate Naoto. She was the weakest link of the group and tried to compensate by bringing a gun to a knife fight. Ill never think of her as anything more than that strange little boy who wanted to tickle Kanji's pickle.
I do not know about this one. I'll probably check it out, cause I love P4, but I'm a bit sceptical. But hey, if it manages to tell a good story and give us more memorable characters, go right ahead.
Is Naoto a trap, or a reverse trap? I'm not good with this terminiology. Also, link is a little bit NSFW. Kind of interested in what 'Rance Quest' is though.
@Mindkiller89 Naoto is a reverse trap so...girl that looks like a boy. Also a light novel is still a novel around 200 pages, but it tends to be written more like an anime/manga and less like typical literature. So in a "lighter" style meant for teens to young adults to enjoy casually. Though I've only read one myself so I can't say I'm too knowledgeable on them.

First of all, Naoto isn't a "strange little boy". Second, Kanji was the one who really wanted to pickle her. Naoto was one of my favorite party members because of the perspective she offered on the role of an oppressed female in a male society. Some people call her trans, but it's really most of a feminist issue. Her and Kanji were my favorite party members because of how they're issues were deeply rooted in sexuality/gender issues. That aside, they're still great characters.

@Noir - Agreed. She just does not look like Naoto...if it were someone else, she'd look great, but it is the wrong look for her IMO. Independent of the gender discourse in P4 (I truly wouldn't know much about it as far as Naoto, since I never did her S.Link), she simply rocked that androgyny really well.

"Trap" is a derogatory term, no matter how you spin it. It implies the person using it is both homophobic and transphobic, regardless of how you spin your usage of the word. its a bigoted, stupid word right up there with others you would dare not utter, but I guess this one's just an exception, right?
Did Naoto dress and behave with the intention of attracting girls. Simple answer was now. She dressed like a boy because she wanted to be treated like a male. She behaved like an adult because she thought that would make adults take her seriously. It didn't work because they saw and treated Naoto in accordance with her age.
Being treated as a child was the core of Naoto's issues, not dressing up as a boy. That's just something she became comfortable with. She grew past this foolish idea she had that adults would look past her age and accepted her feminine side again, she just kept the male clothes.
The only thing to really criticize here is how her hair got that long in one year.
Naoto wasn't the most useful character in the game, but then, she was the last to join the party and got tagged with a Hama/Mudo skillset, so that's hardly surprising. By the time they got to her you had Teddie, Yukiko, MC and Kanji being the best at what they do. Chie was kinda so-so, but I kept her around for being the best physical damage character. Teddie beat her out on Ice magic rather definitively.

Naoto was by far my favorite character in the game, but the redesign looks ridiculous and the "moar P4" thing is getting a little old. Some Persona 5 news would be awesome.
I don't know if I like this... Persona 3 ended up getting milked like all the unnecessary Final Fantasy VII stuff, and now Persona 4 is doing the same thing.
I refuse to accept a universe where Naoto grows her hair long. Short haired androgynous Naoto will forever be my P4 waifu.
Seriously though, I honestly think I've had enough Persona 4 for a while. I'll probably pick up Arena and P4G eventually, but I'd prefer Atlus to stop milking it and move on to developing Persona 5.

Well here this, the stuff that is Persona 4 related like the anime, figurines, and this are all of high quality and adds to the overall greatness of the series. It also helps that there is a good amount of time between each release product, give it time for fans to relax for a bit before bringing it out.
With Final Fantasy VII, everything they put out just chipped away the grandness of FFVII and just dragged it through the mud with such speed.

If you want to get 100% ultra spergy, Kanji still outdamaged her, I actually wrote a blog about it.
Chie gets a boost because of power charge but if you run them side by side, Kanji does more damage with 2 primal forces than Chie does with power charge+god hand, in the case of Kanji it also require no preparation.
More HP is used but by that point you should be healing every turn anyway.

If I wanted to be homophobic and transphobic, I'd use something people actually offensive, not a word that's widely used to normally refer to androgynous/ cross-dressing anime characters, regardless of their reason for dressing/ acting like the opposite sex. That and I've seen people refer to themselves as traps.
