Persona 4 Arena sequel strikes Japanese arcades

7:00 AM on 11.29.2013

Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold hit Japanese arcades yesterday. The fighting game is slated to expand its reach to PlayStation 3 in the country sometime next summer, Atlus announced earlier this week during the Persona 5 reveal event.

In the meantime, the developers have released the game's opening cinematic for your viewing pleasure. The footage imparts a handful of character introductions along with a fleeting glance at the title's story. What a tease! Still no official word on whether there are any plans for an international release at this time.

Persona 4 Ultimax won't be region locked for North and South America

After raising some ire region locking Persona 4 Arena (one of the only PS3 games that is region locked), Atlus decided that its follow up, set to release in the North and South America this fall, "will not be region locked for the Americas."  So this time around you European folk might consider importing instead of waiting on Atlus for a year to release it in Europe.more

Persona 4 Ultimax: Naoto & Kanji's Japanese voices are throwing me off

The best Persona 4 character already got trailered, but I guess Atlus still needs to finish up. This week it's Kanji and Naoto, both with voice actors that are throwing me for a loop. It feels like it should've happened...more

Persona 4 Ultimax's Adachi will be free for first week

Okay, clever use of color presets, Atlus.  Adachi will be free to download for the first week of Person 4 Arena Ultimax's North and South American release. After that first week, he will revert to paid DLC, so get your free character while you can. more

Persona 4's best character gets her Ultimax trailer

When I came back to Persona 4 Arena with the intent of finally learning how to play a fighting game after abandoning it, I switched from Mitsuru to Chie. Because they are the best Persona characters. I lasted a bit longer, but my advancement was thwarted by Shadow Labrys (trailered below) and stupid fingers. more

Yukiko & Yosuke get Persona 4 Ultimax trailers

I got so excited about Yu's Yul Brynner chest on the Persona 4 Ultimax box art that I almost missed new trailers for Yukiko and Yosuke. I never noticed this, but Yosuke's persona sort of looks like the frog navi the frog reporter uses in Mega Man Battle Network 2. Yeah, I like those games.more

The Japanese box art for Persona 4 Ultimax is real good

This is the official box art for the Japanese release of Persona 4 Ultimax. It's pretty great, even with the best characters (Mitsuru and Chie) getting teeny billing. That Yul Brynner chest pose though.more

Ew, why is Koromaru stuck with Ken in Persona 4 The Ultimax?

Have I ever told you guys how much I disliked Ken in Persona 3? A lot. I dislike him a lot. I didn't realize he was in Ultimax or that poor little Koromaru would be saddled with picking up Ken-kun's slack. We also have a video of the Golden Arena Mode. You pick a social link partner, difficulty, and then do fighting and beef up your stats or learn new combos. Seems fun enough.more
